you need to get nomnoms some how, blame devs for making nomad remains a requirement for making cloaks not players who seek them.

This has worked for me several times. I used to also be more or less strictly into caps.

You can set yourself alternative goals like "I want to get good at snub PVP", have closed-economy characters or join a faction and 'level-up' the hard way, or do roleplay trade runs only.

There are a lot of different approaches to the game but the "grind to buy all the big stuff" is one of the most short-lived ones IMO.

Be a Bounty Hunter and earn Money by fullfilling bounties Smile

Edit:Also you can be a Lib Navy and grind Money at New Hampshire with an Upholder or Havoc MKII

But once you have all / done those things trading just becomes boring, I mean you make a bill spend on CAU8 then your back to 0. Then the cycle begins all over again I lose sight of the point of doing it. This aspect of discovery has just become boring as hell for me and I cant seem to find any reason to enjoy it.

In effect Discovery has become boring...

Joining in 08, leaving every two years and coming back again does not a veteran make. Neither does playing the same factions over and over again. Or remaking this thread every time you do. I swear, this has got to be the 5th you have made so far, during these years.

If you knew that, you wouldn't be making this thread right now.

The reason why we have all these players playing is because they have found a reason to do so, so in other words- you are looking for something that is not there or possible in your case.

Well in total I have had one year off from the server but other than that I have been playing continuously in some form or other whether running whole factions or doing my own thing. So yeh done it all and well that pretty much makes a veteran in that sense. What I havent been very good in though is getting into Official Factions, some how everytime I try I am denied? Maybe people just dont like me I guess, who knows...

It's kinda tricky, since some players do not really see trading as fitting them to roleplay, what leads to the late night hour/early day hours powertrading with no players around.

Trading is the most basic thing on the server, but not all players really like it, treating it as necessary evil, while bounty hunting or even doing NPC missions brings no money at all. As admins and devs are repairing missions, I believe the money pay for these should be a bit more bigger - because missions also take time, mostly about cruising here and there, but also they are rather hard if you are lone bomber against NPC gunboats.

Aside of the trading, there should be different alternatives to make a living out of credits, as people, for example I, don't really find themselves into mining, despite all the profit - also, it wouldn't be the thing they wanted.

However, there should be something that would help small players to earn, but the problem is they really can't hunt other players, as mostly those are well-armed and more experienced.

So going back to the thing, money for NPC missions should be at least doubled or tripled to even interest players to earn - if player is not really interested into trading or mining, because this is not what he came for.

The other way however is hiring people, but this is what players are not keen to do, since they lose small chunks of money this way, as they make e.g. 16M per 1 run, they have to pay 4M to the other player just for scouting areas - and to even interest them into escorting.

Piracy is other thing, but piracy is also a tricky problem, because there's a big chunk of players that 1) are very uncooperative 2) would whine 3 million is too much 3) would call up the ooRP back up, discouraging pirate from further piracy.

TL;DR
Problem which reads as: "I want to be a pirate/military, why should I trade? That's ooRP and I don't even want to roleplay that, so I will powertrade to gain good pirate/military vessel!"
