As few of you may know the IMG of the Hood have recently been refitting our racecourse here in Dublin to support many of the latest ship designs and models that run on more economical and ecological engines. Since ship building corporations such as Renzu and those amongst the Zoners have come out with these quieter and more unusual engines we have had a flood of pilots flocking to Dublin to cheat the course. And so the course has been updated to recognise these new designs to gauruntee a fair and secure ring to bet on.
Racing
The rules of every race is for each racer to clear all of the rings throughout the racecourse. A missed ring will result in that racer either turning back to fly theough the ring or withdrawing from the race. If a racer misses a ring and continues the race regaurdless, their position is considered to be at the ring that they missed on the course.
Any racer found to be deliberatley cheating will be banned from Hood Racing and will no longer be able to take part in betting, tournaments or races under Hood jurisdiction.
Approved Vessel Class' for Hood Racing
Light Fighters
Heavy Fighters
Very Heavy Fighters
Super Heavy Fighters
Freighters
Unapproved Vessel Class' for Hood Racing
Bombers (See Below)
Gunboats
Transports
Cruisers
Battleships
The reason for the unnaproval of the 'Bomber' class vessel is due to the potential threat it poses to our racecourse and it's integrity. However an exception of a Bomber class vessel without any heavy weaponry or ammunition mounted would pass as acceptable.
Use of weaponry including the use of mines, guns, missiles, torpedos or heavy weaponry is not allowed
Head to Head
A Head to Head race consists of a maximum of two competitors. The standard rules apply and both racers must attempt to be the first to reach the finish line. The winner is deemed the first to finish and any betting winnings are transferred at that point (See Betting).
Cruise Disrupting is NOT allowed.
Colliding is allowed.
Group Race
Group Races consist of a maximum of five racers and a minimum of two. These races follow the same principles as Head to Head races. Each racer must attempt to be the first to reach the finish line and claim first place.
Cruise Disrupting is NOT allowed.
Colliding is allowed.
Team Race
A Team race consists of up to six individual racers each on a total of three teams. Each team must have a minimum of two racers. Each racer represents their team and no position matters but first. If the racer to get to the finish line first is from Team 'A' then Team 'A' wins the race regaurdless of the other team members position.
Cruise Disrupting is NOT allowed.
Colliding is allowed.
Disruptor Match
A Disruptor Match is either a Head to Head or a Group Race that allows the use of Cruise Disruptors. This unruly match allows racers to make use of their Cruise Disruptors throughout the circuit in order to gain the upper hand.
WARNING: Vicinity Cruise Disruptors such as the Train Cruise Disruptor may effect our defence platforms positioned towards the end of the circuit. This in turn will lead to the platform treating you as a hostile target in which you may be fired upon. Use Cruise Disruptors at your own risk.
The same principles apply to a Disruptor Match as they do to a Head to Head or Group Race.
Cruise Disrupting is Allowed
Colliding is Allowed
Ace Race
The Ace race is specifically designed for those flying aces in the IMG as a training program for them to be aware of their surroundings. However Hood Racing has allowed use of thise course by the public on the Hood racecourse. The same rules apply the same as a Head to Head race. However both pilots are not allowed to collide with one another. If one pilot collides with another and it is clearly the fault of a particular pilot, then the victory is given to the other pilot.
However if a collision is made at the fault of both pilots the race continues.
Cruise Disrupting is NOT allowed.
Colliding is NOT allowed.
With this new aspect of Hood Racing we introduce a new money handling system that allows more people to get into the action both on and off the racecourse. This system is specifically designed to appeal more to the people concerning the bet as opposed to Hood Racing itself, and so all bet handling taxes have been hereby abolished for the time being.
The new betting system is as follows:
Betting
All may bet on any particular race that takes part on the Dublin racecourse excluding those affiliated with the pirate group known as the Outcasts. Bets only stand for one race at a time, tournament bets and series bets have been postponed until a later date.
ALL bets follow the rule that an equal sum of money must be contributed to the banker by each Gambler. So each better making up a half of the pot (2 Gamblers), or a third (3 Gamblers) or a quarter (4...
[color=#000000]Simple Betting
All Gamblers must agree to bet the same amount of money as their opponent for a bet to stand
All bets in simple betting are seperate from one another. A simple bet can be between two individuals or two groups of people. Each racer or spectator may place up to a maximum of three bets per race.
Racers and Spectators (If they agree to bet with another Racer or Spectator) must pay a minimum of 200,000 credits to the banker known as Tex. The bets are then immediatley transferred to the betting account on the Battleship Hood where they will remain until the end of the race when a winner is declared. Once a race is over, the winnings are given, and the betting slate is cleaned of all simple bets.
When a bet is made it must be bipolar, this meaning that one end of the bet predicts a particular racer will win, and the other that that the particular racer will lose. This may also be seen as one racer winning instead of another, or several.
A Simple Bet is a bet that predicts a particular racer will arrive in first place. Bets that predict otherwise; for example that a particular racer will come second in a race with more than two racers; are known as tournament bets, and are currently not being taken at this time. Predicting a racer will come second in a two racer race is the equivelant of a simple bet.
Simple Bets can stand in Head to Head Races, Group Races, Team Races, Disruptor Matches and Ace Races
Simple Bets can stand between Racers and Racers, Spectators and Spectators, and Racers and Spectators
Group Bets
All Gamblers must agree to bet the same amount of money as their opponent for a bet to stand
Group bets are bets that include three or more individuals or groups. The bet does not stand if all Gamblers predict the same outcome. If for example, two Gamblers predict a racer will win, and another Gambler predicts the racer will lose; if the racer wins, the pot will be split between the two winning Gamblers.
Group Bets must have a spokesman if the bet is coming from a group of people.
Group Bets may have a maximum of five Gamblers contributing to the pot.
The Banker Tex will tell when a group bet has been made and how many betters are involved. This is for any other players that may want in on the bet to know of the situation.
Group Bets can stand in Head to Head Races, Group Races, Team Races, Disruptor Matches and Ace Races
Group Bets can stand between Racers and Racers, and Spectators and Spectators
Mini Bets
All Gamblers must agree to bet the same amount of money as their opponent for a bet to stand
Mini Bets are bets set at a lower level for pilots that do not want to bet as such, or for those less fortunate. Mini Bets have the same principles as the Simple Betting system. However the maximum contribution for a mini bet is 50,000 credits.
Mini Bets may not be expanded to group bets.
Mini Bets can stand in Head to Head Races, Disruptor Races and Ace Races
Mini Bets can stand between Racers and Racers, and Spectators and Spectators.
Side Bets
Side Bets are bets that exist out of Hood Racing jurisdiction. These bets exist between racers or spectators and rely solely on the trust and honour of each gambler to pay directly when they have lost the bet. These bets have no limits and cannot be regulated by Hood Racing.
Hood Racing in Dublin likes to keep an all Neutral status to pilots from all backgrounds except those of Outcast origin. The times in which we will open the Hood circuit for Gambling and Monitored Racing will be broadcast from time to time on an irregular basis. Note that hostile differences must be discarded once on the race course. We will not tolerate our operation turning into a battlefield. Any non compliers will be subject to target practice for the Hood's Gunners.
This channel will broadcast shift times of our Regulator and Banker 'Tex' and it is at these times the circuit will be open for Gambling and Official Racing.
// Well? What ya think?
I'd planned to open up a simple racing program that doesn't consist of there needing to being a massive tournament every time I come online. So for now were just sticking to the basics. Nice quick races and easy enough gambling. If it all goes good then I may introduce a tournament season.

Hmm. Looks like the boys on the Hood are getting their act together now. Last time I was there some fancy Renzu thing dusted everyone with those new cruise engines. Well nice to know that things should shape up to be pretty much even this time around. I think I may actually race this time, instead of just always removing dents from those guys who magically find rocks in their paths. Even got some cash on me now, couple of nice jobs recently, got some to place bets with I think. I'll head over to Dublin next time I get the chance. Better go call the Mollys and tell them to bring some of their good stuff for the victory celebrations.
END
/// Yeah, I've been waiting for a reasonable racing style event to show up in disco...mostly it's crazy tournament stuff or random on the spot racing. I do have a hard time picking who I should bring down there character wise...but Geordi, my Junker, seems like the best choice for now...but I do have a Hacker and a Corsair who would love to join in I think.
