[font=Palatino Linotype]Angelo De Vere, a medium built dexterous Maltan with green eyes that seem as if they gaze into the very soul of the victim in his sights, often unnerving those who are aware of his reputation, is something of a person of notoriety among his enemies, as well as some allies.
Unlike many fellow citizens of Malta, he belongs to the part of the Outcasts who do not buy into the subtle lies of those who seek to plot with the Nomads against the well being of humanity and, by proxy, the Divine plan, as he calls it.
From the time he was a little boy, he was raised as a purebred engine of divine retribution against the wickedness of those who would destroy humanity and threaten the welfare of Malta.
Some would call him an Outcast, but he prefers not to call himself that as the name has been, as he says, tainted by the vile things those who call themselves by the name perform, the things they do that defy God himself in their vileness. One day, when the name of an Outcast is no longer synonymous with a pact with the Devil himself, he would be proud to call himself one.
From the day he was born, he was taught a lot of things, but two were imprinted in his mind the most.
One - serve God in all things. Two, and his favorite one - punish those who do against his work.
In accordance with those two principles, and along with his noble heritage, stretching all the way to the knights of old Earth, he was granted a seat amongst the high nobles of the Knights of St. John, a modern day crusading order with but one simple task, the eradication of all that defies the will of God, as well as the welfare of humanity and, above that, Malta.
Never known as much of a social character, he was considered somewhat strange by some of his colleagues, but nonetheless pious and devout in his work.
The trait that unnerved most was his special affinity for murder and bloodshed, at least of the sanctioned kind. There was nothing he relished more than bringing some righteous fire and destruction upon those he considered thorns in the eyes of the Lord.
Despite the obvious lack of certain qualities like compassion, his stomach of steel and the ability to get the job done guaranteed that he'd rise through the ranks quickly.
The question only remains if in the end he's more trouble than he's worth, and if he has an agenda of his own.
What worried some of his superiors was that he was merely listening to all orders because they were what he wanted to do in the first place. But for now, while the fight seems everlasting and the ultimate goal lies far, he is the most valuable tool the order has.
