OK, I'm up in Colorado area doing missions for the navy against (Xenos), I get to mission way point and take on the group of fighters approx 12, and thinking to my self how can ships fly without any wings on after blowing them off which makes them fly erratic! So I kill that bunch and sure enough voice comes over the com' system, 'your not finished yet, fly to next way point', and theres about another 12 there, (they remind me of a swarm of bees, with bad stings). So I get stuck into them and sure enough same again, and I'm thinking to myself how on-earth can those ships fire at me with no gun points on there wings, were are they mounted? I suppose I'm getting into the part to much!
Wings are for planes.
Space crafts should be w/o wings, mostly.
Some models, ok.
But, making planes from earth flying in space isn't too good.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
On the other side, chopper, some ships are designed for atmospheric/nebulas flight too... I think it would be easier to land on a planet for a Ravens Claw, than for Sabre... Although there may be some anti-grav things, that allow every brick to fly atmospheric....
Anyway, FL and realism dont go together much, so please dont try to repair what is not broken.
all ships are VTOL anyway - and by the looks of the wings - they are allmost all rather meant for either extremely thin atmosphere or only nebulas. ( or its just for the fact that they are quite low poly ) - i don t think how much wings would work in nebulas - it would take quite a thick nebula to have an effect on "aerodynamics".
mostly the wings are to hold weapons and probably internal ship electronics - or fuel. - but in fact, i think ... spaceships have wings, cause is just looks better from our point of view. we are used to wings.... if it was all about efficiency - i guess every ship could be a sphere or a cube.... booring.
