I think there is a skype directory or something on their site. I'm getting about 2-3 requests a day from spam-bots :| I have no info on my profile and I've had it less than a month, so I don't see how else my skype ID got out there.
I generally ask people before handing over their contact details. If they'd want everyone to know their skype account, they'd put it in their profile and then I wouldn't need to send the contact to others.

Skype has the "Ignore" for a reason. Someone you don't know starts harassing/annoying you, you block him. Easy as that. So no, I don't think Skype accounts are anything to worry about before handing them out. I've been using the same skype for quite some time now. Got both my real life friends and people from disco in it.

Is there anyway to block this crap?
I believe there is an option to uncheck which removes you from public listing or something like that.
Imagine using your Skype for work and having Cindy show up and want some "attention". Embarassing.
