We could say that there is a general story line issued by Admins and the rest of the community can turn it left and right. One could imagine some sort of a boat on a river with many spreads, and while river does always flow downwards, you can choose where the whole ride will go.
To say that there's no hierarchy in determining roleplay would be lying.
And I am not saying it is unfair, there's in fact no unfair or fair, there's just the reality.
Admins make the general story, people in charge of the factions touched by that general story are consulted and they are consulting the members of their factions (this depends on hierarchy within the faction)
The Disco is as fun as it was always, since it has always been this way (with the mention that faction players have more and more say), maybe it is your ego that is grabbing more and more of the game itself and giving you some sort of idea that since so much of your self is invested in here - the game should respond to it.
