Xeno Alliance quarterly review. Well, not an official quarter. But weve been running far longer than weve been official.
Mar 15 2008, 11:18 AM the Xeno Alliance became official.
On Mar 15 2008, 11:20 AM it launched a series of nuclear strikes across major populati... Wait, that was skynet.
I posted one of these in our internal forum, that was the version that primarily had a lot of back patting and self cheering and the barn dance. The one that Im posting out here has none of that really, so much as a critical look at ourselves and how weve developed as a faction.
Weve grown in numbers and, I say this with a touch of pride, I believe weve encouraged a resurgence of the Xeno movement. When I first took to the skies in my poorly outfitted Preagle months ago I would consider it a marvel if I spotted another Xeno plying the lanes. Now I cant seem to undock without running into two others not even of my own faction. This last weekend we amassed an unprecedented fleet of some 12 vessels, almost all XA, which proceeded to reduce every naval, police or security vessel in its path to a smoldering ruin. We circled Manhattan screaming out our Yeeehaws and stamping our feet triumphantly.
Thats not right.
While part of me celebrates in socking the nose of the same persons whove hounded our little fighter faction with mobs of caps in days past I feel that weve deviated from our underdog status and are verging on becoming a victim of our own success. Weve so many people flocking around the Xeno banner with aims towards duking it out with the Navy and without much greater appreciation for the role and backdrop associated with it.
So while I feel that weve encouraged, or possibly simply moved with, a renewed interest in being Xenos and Xenoing, I feel like weve similarly played party to moving it in the wrong direction.
So! Much to the dismay of my constituents Ive instated a rather annoying test on server and RP policy in addition to raising the difficulty curve associated with promotion from the ranks of those charming XA hawks and blazers some of you have likely blown up with no small abandon. Furthermore, Im instating the following policies:
1) With exception to raids on depots and pursuits of fleeing targets XA members are to maintain a 10k distance from habited planetoids and a 5k distance from lawful held bases.
2) With exception to pursuits of fleeing targets, XA members are to refrain from passing beyond the Freeports/halfway points in Magellan, Cortez, Kepler, Galileo, Bering and Hudson.
3) With exception to pursuits of fleeing targets, XA members are to refrain from approaching within 5k of Junker, Liberty Rogue and Lane Hacker bases. Furthermore, in accordance with edict number 2 refrain from approaching Mactan at all. In addition to being well hidden, its rather outside of our little region. Dont want anyone getting strapped to a chair and force fed cheetos while watching bad Anime, or whatever Hackers do all day long.
4) XA members are to amass in no groups greater than four per system. These four may be a mix of whatever craft the squad leader determines appropriate. XA members may bring in greater numbers in response to base defense or to reinforce a squad suffering from attack at the hands of a greater force.
This rule does not apply to XA freighters or XA Hatchlings, who shall blacken the skies with their hordes of Starblazers and Hawks.
5) A return to trade interdiction as a priority. Too much emphasis has been placed on engaging naval targets, this needs to come to a halt. As such forays into New York will be restricted save upon authorization by a member of Royal status and in accordance with the same four member rule. Plenty of fights with the lawdogs will still be coming to you.
The rule concerning New York not apply to XA freighters or XA Hatchlings.
This is fully intended for feedback, please throw tomaters at us and well see how they stick.

imo, that rule should either have its cap increased, OR removed completely. why? becuase with the ever increasing size of the XA, that rule will -heavily- restrict your members. also, dont exepct your enemies to enforce such rules, because, maybe if the factions such as the SA/LSF respect that, and act accordingly, dont forget the massive influx of indy caps (that imo, should be restricted like the RM does, but meh -.- ).

the rest looks fine for now.
It may be adjusted over time, for now I'm more acting to cut back on a mob mentality. Four people is more than enough to take care of any trader that lives and encourages folk to be a little froggy.
"Here is the key to success. Remember that a great battle, which is won over nothing, will be less of a victory, than a small fight, in which with victory, decisive harvest is gained. Do not start a battle over nothing. If a battle is over nothing, do not start it." - Gas Miners Guild texts; Isamu Shizamu; "Codes of space combat"
Whilst an unwanted side effct we are happy to help the LSF with their dodgy reputation... Oh wait we're Xenos, might have to re-think the Xeno Swarm policy a little bit, Dusty!
I kid. Honestly I do.
This is about a return to Xenoing as it should be, hitting traders and running from the law. In, out and legging it before they know what's hit em. It's worked before and it'll work again.
