I've got a Logitech USB headset, a nice one, and I like it a lot. The only problem is, with it being USB, FRAPs thinks its the only kind of input.. so whenever I'm trying to record sound in a fight, all I hear is *click click click clatter of keyboards, breathing*
I've tried both inputs, the What U Hear and the other one, both only record the mic. Any suggestions?
You will need to go into your control panel and change the Windows settings for the sound card. Windows Sound & Audio Device controls pretty much dictate what FRAPS shows you.
I have three sound cards and spent hours troubleshooting FRAPS sound recording during the making of the pre-release trailer. I know how you feel.
CONTROL PANEL / Sound and Audio Devices / AUDIO TAB
There will be "Sound Playback" "Sound Recording" and "MIDI" playback.
I have "Sound Playback" set to my on-board sound card as it is HD and "Sound recording" to my Sound Blaster card because it is built for voice recording and the MIDI setting is set to my MIDI controller on my desk.
If you click the Voice tab next to Audio, you can assign mics/controllers separately for voice recording. I suggest leaving the Voice Playback option as your standard sound card as it can over-ride settings in the Audio tab.
At the end of the day you will need to figure out how it suits you. You may need to change it from time to time depending on the application you are using. I had trouble with FRAPS Vs. Teamspeak for ages. its fairly straight forward. Let me know if you hit any snags.

great advice there from 13CentKiller. I run my Skype/steam/teamspeak/whatever on a seperate pc, thereby eliminating the problem. it would be easy enough to record your conversation and edit any bits you wanted into the movie.

I do the same now days, but some feel lucky they have one computer to play with.
I remember when I first installed my USB headseat for SOCOM on my PC. I could hear everyone in Teamspeak and Battlefield 1942 though the speakers. But I could never get it back like that again. It was either one or the other the next day.
I suggest when your USB headset breaks, buy a standard one.:D

I have an USB headset, too, and I have somesort of virtual sound card that came with it. (I installed it from a CD).
I am unable to record sound with Fraps, Xfire etc. aswell.
The microphone works fine, but while recording I want to record the game sounds, not my own voice.
