So, in my spare time, I've just started watching Cowboy Bebop, I saw a few episodes a few years ago on Toonami, but never got the backstory. Only ever saw four episodes.
On episode 3 right now, but has anyone here watched it? It seems somewhat realistic in terms of 'early human space expansion' in my eyes or, 'rushed' expansion. Wild West in space, sorta like how it is in Freelancer, though less 'quirky' though I'd love to see the RP and gameplay match it.
So, Cowboy Bebop, anyone watched it?
EDIT: While I recall, I LOVE how 'lane technology' was even saw and used in this anime, no warp rubbish.

Yep, I've seen it.
Enjoyed it too, once I got fully into it. Good artwork, music and just about everything else.
You will see a number of things that look like they are 'Pre Exodus', especially some of the ships, in particular the 'Space Trucks'.
They look so much like the 'trains' in FL it's just not funny.
As far as anime goes, it's one of those that goes in the 'must watch' list.
The lanes in Cowboy Bebop are quite interesting.
From memory they take an amount of credits from the ship when they exit.
Of course these leads to people 'hacking' the lanes..... Lane Hackers anyone?
There are just so many 'freelancer-ish' things in Cowboy Bebop, you would think Freelancer was based on Cowboy Bebop.
edit: interesting. Cowboy Bebop was released in 1998, Freelancer was released in 2003.
Cowboy Bebop is the pinnacle of anime. Characters you fall in love with, stories that are episodic while at the same time arching, beautifully done animation, great voice acting (in either version), and finally the most kickass ending to a series ever.
Haha just watched episode 7, where the kid was affected from hyperspace experiments and got 'longer life' shall we say. I love this anime so for not for its 'frontier' ness, but for how close I can see it happening, I mean as said above, tolls for 'highway' travel, tough living, certain aspects of live are taken for granted.
Its literally a space age Wild West, I love it so far.
One of the best Anime ever, totally classic position. Read up about CB:Knockin' on Heaven's Door and watch it in the order it should be watched, you wont be let down:)

The other cool thing is that the good guys don't always get away without taking damage.
None of that 'running around all over the place, getting shot at and punched and NOT losing their hat somewhere in the middle of it' stuff.
That's episode 6 in my version, episode seven is 'Heavy Metal Queen' and you get to see the 'trucks'!
