' Wrote:For the various people who are having connection troubles, please answer the following questions. These are here to help me obtain consistent data to try to figure out what the problem might be.
1. Can you see any servers in the server list?
NO
2. Can you connect to any other servers in the server list?
NO
3. Can you connect to the GC server? [If you answer yes to this then don't post here please -- your connection is working]
NO
4. Are you near/in Slovakia?
NO
5. Is your ISP virgin media?
NO
6. Did you install FL and discovery in My Documents, C:\Discovery or some other non program files location? If so, where. [You should not install Freelancer in the default location or you should have UAC disabled]
I installed it in C:\Freelancer It always worked until two days ago.
7. Did you install the whole mod and not just update3? [only installing the update is a major problem]
YES
8. If you are using vista/win7, did you disable your firewall antivirus software. It has to be completely uninstalled so that the virtual packet driver thingy is deregistered. The standard windows firewall is fine but make sure that Freelancer traffic (UDP ports 2302-2304) is allowed. [Removing your firewall software is not always required, most AV packages are fine].
I HAVE XP
9. Have you disabled IPv6?
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS
10. How do you start Freelancer?
I once used a simple link to the exe, but in more recent times I used the Discovery Launchpad. But everything worked fine until two days ago.
11. What O/S do you use?
XP
12. Did you install a GLS workaround? [You shouldn't]
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS
13. Did you use a direct connect modification? [You shouldn't]
NO
14. Is another computer on your network able to connect?
NO
15. Have you been able to connect to the server in the past using this computer?
YES
16. What type of internet modem/router do you have: Is it cellphone/3G, satellite connection, DSL/ASDL, fibre, cable, dial up modem? What is the brand name? [cellphone/3G, satellite connection = bad]
ADSL - Fastweb
17. What type of connection do you have to your modem/router: wireless/wifi, ethernet, wet string, fibre?
ETHERNET
18. Have you allowed ports 2302-2304 to be allowed in on your modem/router? This might not be needed if uPNP is used.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACCESS THOSE SETTINGS - but again, I didn't have problems in the past
19. Have you allowed ports 2302-2304 to be allowed out on your modem/router? This might not be needed if uPNP is used.
See above
20. Have you restarted your computer and tried to connect again?
YES
Oh, have you installed hamachi? I am pretty sure you have or something like it -- this'll be causing the problem. It is possible to have hamachi installed at the same time but you do need to disable the hamachi network thing when you are not using it. Can any other hamachi users comment?
