That is because Koonschi and cepheni moved into a new studio and have done more backend work in the last weeks to allow more front-end work. Koonschi already announced that more updates are incomming with a higher frequency.
Came back from playing Avorion to check on Disco again and I would like to share my thoughts:
Some features on the roadmap and mod support will allow server admins to make a Freelancer like experience (scale-able galaxy, ship size limitation etc.)., but so far I don't see how will the PVP ever work in Avorion. It will all depend on a dedicated team like DIsco has to make such a community server/mod (once a stable/somewhat final version emerges, if ever).
It seems like the developers work on features that cause even more unbalance and server issues (1 step forward 2 steps back), but the players seems to like these, so I am less than optimistic if it all depends on the devs/community suggestions.
Otherwise the game is good for some mind easing grind and farm. PVE works fine and there is always something to do that pulls you into playing more.
Can confirm that Snek is telling the truth for once great game as it is well worth £13 and if they add more features then it’ll be worth the investment I can see this being a £30-£40 game once it’s released.
Yep, the game is quite cool, despite its Early Access status. I have to admit I haven`t played it in a while due to other interests.
I will take a look at it again when it reaches 1.0

There are tools to convert models into voxel stuff Avorion can use. There are plenty of models that used that method in the workshop, for example that one Nebula-B frigate. It's very fiddly, though, and only provides the outer hull. You'd need to cut the thing open then to fill it with systems.
