I dont understand why you all get so upset, it's a legitimate question to ask about battleship role, it's not hard to see that they are an outsider in a battle scenario.
A cruiser is ten times better than a bs.

If were talking about a lone battleship (say like a kirk) walking into leeds, than ofc the battleship could get put down in several different ways. Bombers, a horder of fighters and ofc Gbs and other BS will kill it. But in terms of a group battle a BS has much more potential, since it has figthers/gbs/ dessies with it to cover it, it can deal stupid amounts of damage with anti-snub weapons and ofc heavy turrets like the heavy mortar and razor can insta kill gbs and in some cases even crusiers will get insta killed.
Unlike crusiers, BS rely more on the pilots skill. Loadouts do have a major effect on it, but its still possible to kill 3 bombers without a razor loadout vs with a razor loadout.
In terms of other capital ships? The BS is by far the one to be feared, there are tactics to use to take down crusiers quickly, most people just dont know of which gives off the impression to most new players that they cant do much against gbs and crusiers because "no CD" or "guns too slow".
GBs can also fall on the skill of the BS pilot, its very easy to insta kill a gb pilot without much experience.
I know im really sounding like an all talk no walk sorta person but it is possible.
Man, it's the "potential" that is wrong, ok they could not be useless, and with tatics you could win a battle (wow didnt know that), but they should have a clare role.
It's not like im a new player and i dont know how to kill a cruiser, it's a game design flaw:
Figthers kills fighters and bombers.
Bombers kills capitals and even gunboats with skill.
Gunboats kills fighters bombers, and can harrass a cruiser with a forward gun.
Cruisers kills gunboats, cruisers, and battleships.
Battleships kills gunboats and battleship.
Like Snoopy wrote, it should be
Quote:Fighters -> Bombers/Fighters
Bombers -> Capital Vessels and aid in taking out Gunboats
Gunboats -> Bombers and Fighters
Destroyers (Lighter of the two classes) -> Anti Gunboat and AID in destruction of Battleships and Dreadnoughts with armament like Torpedos
Cruisers (Heavier of the two classes-> Destroyers, Battleship protection from Bombers
Battlecruisers -> Cruiser, Destroyers and AID in the destruction of Battleships and Dreadnoughts
Battleships -> Battleships, Battlecruisers, Cruisers (Should be worried about these ships)
Dreadnoughts -> All (Should be scared about these ships)
Carriers -> Fighters/Bombers
Now they are like end in themselves

Following which two defector RM fighters (not even bombers) destroy it on their own, with four torpedos. Later you take out an entire RM fleet of battleships with a squad of four fighters (presuming your wingmen die). Single player isn't a good demonstration as to why our battleships should be stronger.
I'd also be strongly against any kind of system that requires manual intervention from the administration in order to approve battleships. Discovery has never had a particularly healthy bureaucracy, and placing that kind of additional burden will either cause it to snap, or people to quit as their applications are either ignored for months or processed haphazardly.
Lmao i forgot about that, i remember only that biggass bs appear from nothing.
