The bigger your armour, the more bots that are used for your repairs, so in the final effect it doesnt make any difference. I do have 1 cap MkVIII however, just cus I like to have it.
Like Jinx said, once you got estabelished on the server, the impact for a universal mkVIII is practically nothing.

On another note, the prices, while ridiculous, are ridiculous in balanced fashion. Organizations that should be crazy-rich are more likely to have crazy-expensive armor, while smaller shows have less pricy armor. Makes sense, more than the insanely rich Outcasts and limitless funding Liberty Navy having the same 15 mil fighter armor as the dirt-poor Xenos who can't even afford SHFs... which cost less than the fighter armor...

cap ship armours are meant for big ships, and thus, they should cost more than the universal armours, but that means in a rise in price for caps, and an increase in stats, imo.
Well by all apperacnes Cap armor price is ballanced fairly nice... the fighter version is a bit dodgier... But then again you don't need a 15mil upgrade to fly a non vanila fighter, it's really more of an investmend than anything else, usually you can defeat your opponent in a mk6 armor, if you are going to win you win... on rear occasions it is more expensive...
I purpose, some new universal armors, probably going to 100M for x3.0
and a mk9 armor (4.5) for caps weigting in at 1800M... There should always be the option of buying bigger and better, but at an excedingly high price... a price that would far outweight it's usefulness.

The price is a little crazy for the top cap armour but saying that I have it on both my Gunboats and there should be something just to blow a stupid amount of credits on apart from Battleships.
Though honestly the Armour doesn't make a lot of difference but just buying it is an achievement which is why I like the price as it is.
I'd say it usefulness in game terms is mainly more for use on evenly matched Battleships though and could make the difference in that type of fight, so to some people it's worth getting despite any price.

Actually, I heard that nanobots scale with the armour appropriately. So not only do you get a boost to the armour, you get a boost to how much damage nanobots repair. When you take a look at it exponentially, it can really make a difference in a capship 1v1.
Botts scale with armor yes... It's really a kicker... 500k bs becomes a 2000k bs, with 540k regen that becomes a mega whoping 2160k... for a total of 4160k hitpoints... chew on that with your supernova...

thats strange - the 900 bots bats of a juggernaut only "heal" it by around 80%, but yes - i think it makes no difference what armour you have. - its been 80% with armour 6 and its still 80 with armour 8.
all in all, i don t htink its a good idea to introduce any higher armours - the idea of armours is a nice one, but i think it causes more problems than what it helps. its so easy to get carried away. - it might have been better to make armours for each shipclass and give them fixed values instead of a multiplier.
Armours for each class? Why not removing cap armors then all together and making them come with good armor as a base... Wich would be nice, howcome 12M can upgrade your armor by 2.5x while your base 750M will only get you 1.0 armor... why not sell it for 762M stock....
It is unreasonable... Infocard for mk8 cap armor states: "Mk VIII is the ultimate armor upgrade that was constructed by Order Engineers using Alien Technologies."... perhaps the Order Osiris should come with a mk8 stock. Turning it's regular 340k armor in to 1360k and then one would assume that everyone would buy the universal armor upgrade... for 15.2M so that should really be 544 stock. so then you get order tech, after upgrading...
