A lot of additions to bases don't have turret mounts, only the "core" parts.
Anyway, I think doing this for every base will take a long time, maybe a bit too long. Another possibility is doing it in steps, a couple of remodeled bases with every update, but since I believe we're close to a final release, it might be for a next version.
Actually, any turrets that attached to added on parts don't seem to work.
Try going to a FP being hostile to them, the turrets on the bio domes won't fire at you.
But yeah, this would majorly mess up just about everything in the game if one where to rescale everything to be like this, because you would have to modify just about every single little thing in the system to get it to work properly.
you cannot jsut downsize everything to ant-size...
in order to downsize ships, you also have to reduce speeds ( or you ll have tiny ships with tremendous speeds being totally invulnerable )
that means a ship that is flying 100 now, would fly 200 when it was downsized by 50% - unfortunately downsizing and adjusting speeds isn t that easy.
so - you d need to really adjust every aspect of the game.. EVERY gunspeed, shipspeed, strafeforce, mass, cruise, turret rotation even - possibly even NPC behaviour and autoaiming. additionally "deadzones" of systems would need to be redefined and radiation damage ( when you re slower, you d not pass through the system at the same speed - hence taking more damage )
every traderoute would need to be revised etc etc etc
the list would take no end. - if we were digital anvil - and that was just the conception of a new game ( that would be released sometimes at christmas in 2011 ) we could do it.
real scale in a space simulation sucks anyway. - distances are measured in astronomical units or greater. even with lightspeed you d need - uhh..... a few thousand years to get from one system to another ( at least form one inhabitable system to the next one )
trust me - you do not WANT to have real life scales in a game. - in a game there always has to be a compromise of playability and reality.
but other than that - its fun to just "imagine" stations to be that large - to imagine how they ought to be.
