oh and we are way better than "the void"
:P
I did read the rules... and you are no better than the void since you have people that are allowed to ignore them and they are set up to allow any nomad to camp new york and prevent new players from ever leaving pittsburgh.
So... I can wait four hours to re-enter New York... by the rules... stuck in the Pitt... or I can.... create a new character and sit in the Pitt for 4 hours... by the rules... or.. I can wait who-knows-how-long for him to leave.
Either way i can't play anymore tonight and since it was a test of the environment anyways... it's not really worth my time to come back. Call it bad timing, or whatever, but I'm not going to loose any sleep over leaving a brand new server where the same-old griefing situations happen.
I suppose you can look at it this way... it's a good thing... it keeps new players from joining that don't want to pvp... and eventually you'll be nothing but PVP, like void is. Good tactic....
If that's not your intent then the rules are fundamentally flawed, however good intended they are. I've been writing rules for games for a long time. And I could see the ways they could be abused by certain players to cause annoyance and poor sportsmanship on other players. I was hoping that this would be different, but only 3 and a half hours into it I am roadblocked out of playing because of it. Look at it from my perspective.
High level players should not be allowed to camp a system killing players where it's not likely that they will be able to fight back. It's lame, it's abusive to the new players, and overall it's the mark of a cruel player base that you're supporting it by throwing the "rules" back at me.
In ANY case... it doesn't matter... you don't need anymore players anyways. I'll just make a non-pvp server of my own and if people want to play on it they can, if not... I get to wander around by myself... which is what I wanted anyways. So I suppose it's a win-win. You loose a new player who would have only been marginally social, and I get the motivation to put my modding experience to work on my own FL server.
And I KNOW a non-pvp server will be dead... that's fine... there currently are few if any, so others like me may get a place to enjoy the game without the gradeschool bullies ruining it.
If the name started with "Keepers." then you fell foul of one of our rare groups of terrorists. If the name did not start with "Keepers." then it very probably was a nomad trial ID which is prohibited from engaging except in self-defense.
If this is the case, please submit a post with supplemental evidence to the sanction thread.
Also, New York is a hell hole. If you'd prefer some alternative routes and some credits for a new ship let me know. The ALG is always happy to help potential pilots!
Edit: Also, traders are exempt from the four hour rule.
i know i'd struggle to make it to lvl 39 in 3 and a half hours from a starflyer without another account to draw cash from, so im guessing whoever this keeper/nomad was broke a pretty fundamental rule.
you got really unlucky, there are alot of people who stretch the rules a bit, or play ooRP, but there are very few of us who would shoot a starflea.
please dont judge the server on this one player
