yes - the new hitbox worked..... almost. but we had to replace it with a "box" again. ( dunno about the actual problems, but mjolnir knows )
other than that - the new mako model quality is a lot better than the old mako. - and the proposed new bhg battlecruiser fits to the style of the new mako .
but all in all the BHG caps are cursed. - or its just fairness of hitboxes. - the destroyer hitbox fits like a glove on this extremely slim ship.:P

The new hitbox was NOT replaced in update 1, even though it was written it would be. An (lucky) oversight by Cannon.
You can check it with HardCMP, by opening the Mako model in the mod.
The only reason for the intended revert to the old hitbox, was due to an error message in the server log, whenever a Mako went ingame. The Error message looked more serious than it really was.
What happens is that one of the many parts of the hitbox, has gotten the wrong filetype (scenery, iso Ship/station), which the hitbox loading routine in FLServer then balks over. Fortunately it is one of the internal (as inside the model area), so it has no effect on the actual area enveloping the model. The routine aborts loading this specific part of the hitbox, and continues to load the remaining parts.
It just looks ugly in the server log. I have promised Cannon to fix it (just removing that part in the splice - afterall it was a Q'n'D job making that hitbox, just to prove it could be done), but I have been pretty hung up with other stuff.
Since Cannon got the explanation, and could see that the server wasn't getting (more) destabilized due to the error, he hasn't reverted the hitbox back to the old cylinder box in the subsequent updates.
I am in contact with Cannon, and a fixed version which doesn't fill the FLServer log with that entry will be in the next update he releases.
Then again, if there's a new Mako model in the making, hopefully with a shipbody that isn't modelled after the butt from an American mall-dweller in Mississippi (U.S. obesity capital 2009), I'd rather make a hitbox for that, if such a model will be included in the next update.

well, you have my vote to hitbox the old Beta model. Like I said, it looked way more BHG-isch. it looked like a proper assault ship with liberty influences. the current one looks like a BC on steroids (even more so when the new BC model gets added. then you have a mako and a mini-mako.)
I think it would be better if you have the dessie, then the BC ( a souped up dessie with more aromor plating etc.) and then the Beta model mako. looking in line with the rest, but not like an overgrown dessie.
otherwise you get: overgrown Sea Serpent becomes dessie. overgrown dessie becomes BC. overgrown bc becomes Mako. pretty much the same ships, only with a growth factor.
maybe the Beta model can be tweaked a bit to make for easier hitboxing and improved overall quality, and maybe add some nomad hybrid technology crap. like blue pipelines or whatever. something to show that the Core is in fact reverse engineering nomad tech, but not to a very succesful degree.
I hope you Jinx dont get to offended when i say that sticking with the current BC and changing
the Mako back to beta Mako is what i truly would like, as they all then would seem to fit in the
same ship line.
(as for it beeing a bit smaller than the current mako. Well maby it need some slightly decreas in
agility then to make it more balanced. But that is entierly for the balance team to test and decide)
My problem with the beta mako is its lower quality than the current one, also it looks bigger, not like a light BS and has an open hanger, which strange on an assault ship like hunters use
Also I really liked the new BC model
If it was made to look smaller like the current one (which is one of the smaller BS's) and the model was updated and fixed a bit, I'm all for this

I havent noticed the new mako. From that picture, it looks a bit too much libertonian, They're orgininally FROM liberty yes, but their style is far different for fighting in the omicrons.
I haven't seen old mako actually ingame, was replaced with new model before I started playing here,
but judging by pic of old mako, I think old model was more fitting into BHG caps line.
New model is nice and shinny, but it kinda steps out from other caps.
BHG has bad luck with those caps, hitbox problems, lack of power on BC and maybe dessie, ehh
I think they need some serious revision.
Check out my latest vid, if you don't believe me about lack of power.
