How many times do I have to say it? Rhienland does not need any more capital ships. It is against their RP. They got their asses handed to them in the 60 year war because they relied on Capital Ships, and they learned from that mistake. Rheinland's military strategy revolves around smaller craft, which is why the Fafnir was created.
Liberty's capital ship fleet is too vast, and Rhienland does not have the resources to build big, expensive ships to match them ship for ship, and so they use smaller, cheaper and more efficent bomber craft.
To add:
Rhienland Capital ships are .... "garbage". In other words, the ships turning rate is horrible especially the Battleship. The cruiser itself is strong, but then again it is big enough for two bombers to take it down. The gunship is quite well made, imo. I didn't see any problems with it on battle except that is huge.
Therefore, I have to agree with Nighthawk. Rhienland doesn't need no more Cap's. Their Cap's are their bombers. Ever seen a wing of RM bombers attacking a cruiser? You'll change your mind quickly and get a bomber yourself.
In RP the Rheinland Battleships are supposed to the biggest, baddest, daunting ship to be fielded for war. In PvP, well being the biggest means it's the easiest to hit - afterall it's larger then the majority of stations and rivals some moons in it's size. I fly one and I absolutely love it, in the right hands with no shots wasted it can grind any given ship but never leave without an escort (I won't budge unless I have 3 or more).
Rheinland's snubcraft was born after the 80 Year War it lost to GMG. Back then the Rheinland Imperial Navy relied almost solely on capital ships with some fighter skirmishers. Their bomber didn't exist back then yet. It was after their defeat and watching their entire cap fleet get annihalated by strike ships hiding in the clouds that the Bergelmir was developed. The next conflict Rheinland engaged in involved the Nomad War. Once again the, now named, Rheinland Military spammed their capital ships like it was candy. Unfortunately for them Wilde Rheinlanders were on those spammed caps an infested fleet of their own. Certainly that Bergelmir played a very pivotal role when the Wilde issues became fully known and Order came to help. The Fafnir would represent a further step by the current Rheinland Military that it has adapted from it's tactic to steam roll with caps to actually applying a reliance on the important roles the smaller strike craft provide. Indeed now it's LN whos spamming the caps and both the Bergelmir and Fafnir (in RP) will play a monumental role in Rheinland's favour.
