Seems to me he just made a plasma torch, and not the self sustaining reactor, eh?
If he did, we would've been readin' a different article... one about Nobel prize, and cheap energy for the world, and global revolution, and all is happy.. well, sort of like the 50s pronuclear mentality... what you see in Fallout, for instance;)
Besides, there is a large, serious project to make a working fusion reactor, it's called the ITER, is being built in France, by a multitude of countries, and is supposed to be a Prototype, and after it is completed, and all experiments are made on it, a practical, working powerplant shall be built.
Also, one thing... Tokamak type fusion reactor's inner plating becomes intensely radioactive during operation. It's not as bad as waste from fission plants, but it stays "hot" about 30 years, I think.
Also, Valiant, I think even the fusion plants can go Kaboom, if properly overstimulated;)
