Had same idea in my mind for quite some time. But it comes with one drawback. Admins really needs to trust the people who are getting the bounty money. Becouse this can be abused in some way or another. Also, if people are really good with it, there will be always some consipracy theories behind. Bias and all that troll feeding.
We gonna also get Q_Q about mercinaries and bounty hunters. Remember sirius merc net? That worked epicly fine. Hunters actually had a profitable job. But once that become reality lot of people started to Q_Q about it. They don't like then something starts to work how it should, becouse it turns their lil worlds up side down.
But I think in time all can be installed just fine. of course would need some time to adapt, but thumbs up for such idea and having enought resolve to propose it.
Quote:here you are missing out on the whole purpose of a bounty; its not to give money to a mercenary. its not to provide the mercenary with a blue message. its to cause as much aggravation and distraction to the bountied player, so that the poster of the bounty can trade and trade, uninterrupted. your suggestion is the opposite of this.
It is called responsability for your in character actions. You skrewed someone's other game. He skrews yours. If he can't do it himself, he hires someone who can.
Now you can watch this as some ugly agression. Or with fine healthy competative sportsmanship. If it is the former, problem lies in you, not in the bounties. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. There is no game where everyone wins. But you don't have to win all the time in order to have fun.

dont get me wrong, i LIKE blanket bounties. i like sneaking into ny with a bucket full of cardi, with every lawdawg on my tail, and docking on manhatten in a hurry. I LIKE being chased through the sigmas by a bounty hunter, and leading him into trap set by the blood dragons.
but you hit the nail on the head. responsibilty. merc net was good, too good. we have to go back to the inefficient method for a while, until something that doesnt work so well can come along.
perhaps its time we looked at bounties via FLhook. /bounty <char name> <amount>
or something
not really a mass ganking... you can have the bounties set at minimum 5 million, making it expensive enough to prevent people putting on minor bounties to avoid pvp rules.
hmmmm new idea
/factionbounty <faction tag>
all ships of your faction, who cause the majority of destruction to ships of that faction, get paid a bonus.
Still getting bounty money will be just too easy in that case.. The present one atleast needs us to post.. And what if the guy who has bounty on his head wants to do some pvp practice? Anyone who kills him will get the bounty money..
