Aigis gave the woman standing in front of her a long stare. Trying to match any detail on her with data about the "target".
[color=#993399][font=Garamond]Aha! Found you...
Not really a best start, not even a good one given the circumstances...
[color=#993399][font=Garamond]Oh, where are my manners? I am Aigis, nice to meet you.
Aigis moved her hand towards Evelyn as in atempt to shake her hand, that of course was a vain atempt.
[color=#993399][font=Garamond]You are... miss Evelyn i hope.
Regardless of the rain falling, Aigis was still looking perfectly dry. Really a mindbending sight. The same couldnt be said about Evelyn, which was slowly becoming soaked.
[color=#993399][font=Garamond]Well, i need to.. talk about something. But that can wait, we should move elsewhere. Meanwhile, i am fully at your service, miss. Should you require something, dont hesitate to ask.Um... that of course, if you permint me to... acompany you for the time being.
''I don't know why these people did this or what drove them to it but for what ever reason, it wasn't necessary''
Ragen looked down upon the woman the soft voice had come from, a young woman, bent down against the man the crowd had just beaten down, and trying to rinse his wounds with some water and cloth, evidently not knowing the man's true state. With several broken bones and internal bleeding along with two fractures to the skull and one to the spine, the man would be dead in an hour most, although Ragen was partially amazed at how the man still breathed, and not even in a simple shock. Even as he looked down into the man's eyes, he could see absolute determination.
Just then, out of the crowd, a bishop came towards him, once near enough Ragen immediately bowed.
''Your Grace, I am sorry to have your excellency see this...thi-'' ''I know, Deacon. Although it was the Creator's blessing that he sent you to stop this defilment.''
The Bishop turned partially to the crowd,
''..and it will not go unseen in the pillars of the council''
The eyes of the crowd dropped down, even more ashamed if possible. Getting a Deacon to shout at them over something was another thing, getting reprimanded by a Bishop, an utter follower of the Creator with unsurpassed devation, was entirely another matter. They all wondered what would happen now.
The Bishop turned back to Ragen and leaned to him closely, whispering in a voice meant only for him while at the same time giving him a data chip under his long sleeves.
''Indeed I know what happened, although I must say the crowd wasn't entirely wrong.''
Ragen took the data chip, when nothing else came from the Bishop, he activated it in his palm, he then heard the beaten-man's voice, everything he said and the reasons of the crowd to become so blood thirsty, he looked down and quirked an eyebrow at the man, he was still on the floor, muttering something unintelligable, he was in shock. The young woman that had been trying to cleanse his wounds looked up at Ragen, she opened her mouth, about to say something when Ragen cut her off with a sharp glance and raised his hand. She scowled, but Ragen had already turned back to the Bishop. The Bishop's voice low and still only for Ragen to hear.
''I'll leave the matter in your hands Deacon, make sure he doesn't die, and find out why he says what he says...false prophets, are not to be abided.'' ''Yes, your grace, I'll look into it immediately''
He bowed as swiftly before, and as the Bishop nodded back, Ragen's thoughts went back to the man, the 'false prophet', his nanites instantly obeying and surrounding the man as they lifted him up, hovering a few feet in the air. The young woman looked up, her eyes slightly widened at the sudden action, she was probably not accustomed to seeing anything of the sort.
''Navitas'' <Yes?> ''Find me an empty room, deep in Tear, need to get some information from a man'' <You mean for interrogation> ''Yes, and have a full condition medical system ready as well''
The AI sighed.
<You really need to stop beating and crippling people just because you want to shut them up you know> ''Navitas..'' <Ok, ok...fine. Found a room, sending for med supplies now, it'll be ready before you arrive>
Ragen's HUD flashed a moment, and Ragen could see thin stripes leading away, the course. He looked back to the crowd a second, the Bishop already giving them a speech and reprimanding them for their actions. He turned to where the invisible stripes were pointing, and began to walk away, the nanites towing the man in the air behind him.
''But, you can't just-
Ragen looked back to see the woman looking straight up at him, obviously still wondering about the man's condition, now unconscious and turning pale due to the blood loss. Ragen's HUD blinked once with a thought, letters and numbers scrolled down showing information of the woman. He sighed.
''Fine, you can come with me...Shukura''
She seemed taken aback a bit when he said her name, probably wondering how he knew, but Ragen didn't have the time for some meaningless conversation.
''Well, are you coming, or not?''
He turned back to the stripes flashing along his HUD, he sensed the woman towing in just behind. A few minutes later, they entered one of the large elevators that lead to the levels under the city floor. There was an awkward silence as the elevator plunged down...
Shukura stood up as Ragen's nanites lifted the body of the wounded man. a white hot flash seared down her spine from the base of her skull as he said her name. how doe she know my name? she wondered as she bent down and re-shouldered her pack, her hand snaked down into it and checked her kitten. ''Well, are you coming, or not?'' im coming. she yelled after him. the vibrations of its purr met her finger tips as she hurried to keep up with Ragen's pace. She followed him to the elevator. nervousness coursed through her. she glanced over at Ragen. His grim expression only seemed to become more irritated as she studied him. She looked back down at the floor. her mind whirled with questions. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped, unsure of the man's temper. She looked over at the injured man. his breathing was growing shallow. Shuk caressed his face. concern all over her fearures. The kitten squirmed out of the bag and mewed for her attention. she cradled it against her chest waiting for Ragen's temper to break. After another minute or so Shuk sighed. she couldnt take the silence anymore. Do.. she hesitated do you think he is going to be ok? She looked up at Ragen then back at the wounded man. is there anything i can do to help.....ah...im sorry i didnt catch your name.. she left off as the elevator doors opened.
