Take a look at my server screenie.
195 players on, and the server load is only 88ms. We have the most powerful FL server out there. A Core 2 Duo E8400 Running at 4.3Ghz, connected through a 4mbps symmetric pipe.
Also, if the server load goes higher than 100, the Hook will lower the NPC count to avoid lag.
The only thing that kills the server is a huge amount of people on a single system...
That, and cheating. But we are working on that one..

I think when we reach 200 players... space will crush into 1 small point and in same moment blow in another big bang into new space.... BEVARE OF THIS!
Yes ... if we can get people who are doing nothing but sitting in orbit above Manhattan to move along we might be able to have a stable system. I sold some cargo at Manhattan and bought some more for elsewhere. As I approached Manhattan I noticed some 12+ characters of various types sitting still and doing nothing but chatting, buying and selling equipment from weapons dealers, taking loans from banks, etc. Hood tried to get em to move along but didn't seem to do much good.
I agree with Hood ... can all you weapons dealers (armorers) and banks and such move somewhere where there is less population? Hood suggests Connecticut but I'm sure there are other locations that will suit your needs.

or atelast spread out a bit more so that Weapons are in Conneticut, bankers are in Texas (a heavy police and military system) and cali for the others please?:)
i am enjoying a fair bit of RP in leeds tonight and it keeps crashing because of the people stuck around Manhatten (if that is indeed to cause)
If it comes down to it, we could always ask LPI to do parking fines in NY, but emphasize that there weren't any in all other systems. That should help with crashes...
