I kill someone in pvp - maybe it was a might unfair, like, I used a cruiser to kill a transport. I PM the guy, apologize, explain the rp, re-imburse his cargo loss, and wish him a good day.
Here's (actual) Nice
I kill someone in pvp - we did some rp, engaged each others fighters, duked it out till we were both sweating, and in the end, I scored a lucky nuke, and victory is mine. Afterward, I green PM the guy and tell him that was a good fight, and to have a good day.
Here's normal
I kill someone in pvp - maybe it was a might unfair, like, he was standing still and I snac'd him. I don't green PM, I take a pic of the blue, and post it in my faction message dump, making sure to embellish the story a bit, so it seems it was actually a fight.
while guy I killed respawns, and is going "that was effing cheap *fume*"
Here's Not Nice
I kill someone in pvp - maybe it was a might dirty, like, he was rp'ing with two other folks, and I one line engaged and opened fire. Afterwards, he PM's me, and says "dude, what gives? I was rp'n" - my response is "stop q_q dont pm me"
Nothing says you have to be Nice (by my definition), but it goes a long way to making disco a friendlier place to play. If people understand that doing so was expected, even if not mandatory, folks would still do it. Keep in mind, text doesnt convey tone - so even if you don't even mean it, saying "good fight\good kill" might be taken in a good way by your opponent, even if there was no emotion in it at all

And I see it as rude to say GF at the end of the pvp if I obliterated someone helplessly or I was the one who didn't even had a chance. It wasn't a good fight.. it was just overpower in terms of being skilled in gaming. And another person might see me as rude just because I don't say GF after a fight most of the time.
You've already decribed 3 patters of behavour which might be "required" of people. Ask a few more people and you'll have even more patterns of behaviuor. And we get back to my point. 0.0 gives you green light to judge other people according to your own concept of being nice. Some people stretch it even more and accuse other people for not being "nice"
' Wrote:Define "being nice". I think ethics covers social nicety just perfectly. I or you or any other person can't be ordered to like someone in particular.
Not being a colassol sack of excrememnt towards other people, despite not liking them. Disliking someone doesn't mean you have to be a jackarse to them.
Being cordiall and not talking negatively about them in public, and not showing hostility of said sorts in the game and on the forums is what should be taken as "nice."
But of course, your definition of nice probably is different.

I agree that 0.0 is a rather lovey-dovey, subjective rule.
In all fairness, however, admins rarely (if ever) use it for sanctions. And in all my time here I have NEVER seen an admin abuse that rule to punish reasonable behavior.
I've never seen 0.0 used unless connected with anouther rule break. If someone has a link would be nice.
To my knowledge the admins usually use 1.2 for bad behaviour. Since its basically a "because we said so" rule. Not that I've ever seen it used for anything other than "That wasen't very nice now was it!" sanctions.
This rule has no bad impact on the community. If anything, it only has good impact. Admins reserve the right to remove from premises players who abuse the rules (or are just plain nasty) by virtue of rules 0.0 and 1.2. A "special circumstances" rule is always a good thing as long as it is used sparingly and in special circumstances only.
' Wrote:[...] it's heavily used by the playerbase like a club even though it's not a rule (hence the 0.0).
[partly bold-ed by me]
So if i got it right, it isn't even a rule, merely a reminder to be nice to each other, though i guess it's confusing people since it's stated in the disco-rules.
Like Blodo was saying, there no harm in having it in the rules. The sad thing is, is that poor player attitudes are enough of an issue to have warrented it's insertion as a reminder to people to try not to be dicks to one another in the first place.
I understand that you see it as a form of 'thought control' (which I personally find hilarious) but you should ask yourself, how much would your life really change if 0.0 just stayed right where it is?
'Not at all' is my guess.
Besides, there are sooo many other things around here to fixate on that are much less trivial
