We do both, we have undercover ships in rhienland, kusari, and a few omicron systems. We also been guarding z21 more often, all i can really say is that im trying. Never really roleplayed before i came here, was all new stuff.
But i learned a lot, and hopefully over the summer LSF will become what its supposed to be.
sorry about the previous post, it's hot, and im a bit tired = not so happy:(
' Wrote:It is a good point, but I think this topic would be better placed and cause less flames were it in the faction feedback section, as it is in fack legitiamate faction feedback.
You make a fair point, if I'm bothered tomorrow I'll post in the LSF feedback.
I'd like to see other people's points of view though, from inside LSF and outside, the two sides of the coin.
I said this before, but I'd like to see some of the <strike>less-competent</strike> LSF transferred over to the Navy, while keeping the true "elite" of the LSF to conduct various operations outside of Liberty space. The reason why LSF does everyone else's job is because there are always more. The reason why there are more is because the regulations on what you can/can't use and what you can/can't do in the LSF are much more lax.
I think the reason for swelling LSF numbers is the fact that its a much cooler name to go by than "Navy". Regardless of whether or not the person applying actually knows what they're supposed to do there. Plus they've probably seen LSF filling the holes in the other factions *cough* SA/LPI *cough* and just figure thats what they'd do in the LSF.
Where O where have the LPI gone, O where, O where can they be?
*insert SA related line here*
the way I see it, the LSF are supposed to be investigators/detectives. They were originally part of the liberty police force, until the liberty government cut funding to that organization and the LPI was formed as a private law enforcement group.
LSF claim to have top-secret access to anything and everything in liberty space... but really, they dont. Very few members of the LSF are privy to information and areas like alaska / zone 21 or the navy's top research projects... in almost every regard, the liberty navy has more authority than the LSF do.
The LSF exist to go undercover or spy on potential threats to liberty commerce and government - primarily that focuses around the trade of contraband goods, as shown in the opening missions of the singleplayer campaign. The LSF's primary responsibility is to stop piracy and smuggling, not to deal with foreign affairs or military incidents.
Most people -playing- as LSF characters now (and i'm guilty of this as well, on Virago way back when, because I didnt do my research) are RP'ing and portraying themselves as super-classified military officials with access to everything.
If you ask me, the LSF should be policing trade routes in liberty and stopping pirates/smugglers, not spending their time in z21/alaska or trying to sneak into foreign houses or order space.
LSF heaving like Police/Navy is an issue, but it's not entirely on them.
Several times, we have indi rogues/LH/Outcast or just some other generic pirate in the system (mostly in NY)
who announce - aah LSF kill terminate...
I guess the long range scanners on all ships is a bad idea (left player-system window)...
Since there is no SA or LPI, they see LSF and assume they can pick on them instead.
LSF should be doing secret missions, but if we have the LSF tag, people will look up in the chat window and
head straight in our direction.
EDIT: Above is not a flame, just showing another side of the coin...... *Flame suit on..... *

true, i try to give my characters fairly inconspicuous names so they dont show up like that. Also another reason why I dont join factions.

Like for example: LSF r awesome:D
"LSF r awesome", but they need to spy on Rheinland more often:P
Tenacity: I think LSF is rather a mix of FBI and CIA type agencies, dealing with pretty much both the investigative police work as well as espionage and counter espionage. Myself, I think they are doing a fine job as is.
