i have revised the stations quite a lot. - since the towers / spires were a bit much - and too ornamented - here s a version that reminds one more on the buildings seen on some planetscapes.
small freeport + science/solar module + 2 biodomes ( one without the glass dome )
medium sized freeport, same modules
large freeport version
they re all basicly skyscapers in space - rather slim. the style is very different to the common spacestation design though - but should be similar to the buildings used on planets like manhattan or even some rheilnand buildings.
hm - really? - well, i can go back to the older ones and simply remove the towers. - they are simpler ... but might be more in line with FL spacestations indeed.
the new ones might be a far stretch - maybe we re not at that point yet. - gotto get away from the classic "station" design step by step i guess.
Neither design feels Zoner to me, if you could, I would like to see a continuation of the traditional prefab stations, but taken and then redesigned. Recycled in a way, frontier engineering.
Everything so far looks too 'fabulous' if you get my meaning.
yea - got the drift. - i guess you re right there... - these stations both look like they re something totally new - which would probably fit to the Interspace Commerce rather than zoners.
redesigning the existing stations is .... hard in a way to restrain oneself.
they are very simple, which is their main characteristic of course. - but i find myself adding this and that - just a bit here and there... and then they don t fit anymore really.
Considering their ship designs, I see Zoners as building very biopunk, sleek looking structures, with more emphasis on the biodomes being the centerpieces of their buildings. Centerpieces in terms of importance, not necessarily actually in the center.
I personally don't see zoners building stations in the slightest, as a great deal of their lore is to take abandoned House bases in the borderworlds.
Maybe you could use for some crazy station in the Zoner guard system, though even that is really meh to me.
If you want to make Zoner stations, make House stations and steal them for zoner bases, I think freeport 1 was Bowex, so build a Bretonian styled station inside bretonia somewhere, and then say that Freeport 1 was of the same design. It is of course altering lore a bit, and it would actually make more sense for Freeports to be the old station models.
I think there was some opinion that -all- stations we use currently are infact Liberty design, due to development restrictions set upon Digital anvil, they were exported to other houses. Opposed to making unique ones for each house. I'd say (and others have already said before me) by all rights every house can have their own style, Liberty keeping with vanila, maybe made a bit higher tech.
And then Zoners can steal it depending on the history of a given freeport, inherited stuff. Beats the crap out of Zoners somehow pulling old stations down and building crazy new ones, ruining their own lore.
I do like this one. The others I don't like, but this one looks good. However, not for Zoners, but I could definitely use this for Liberty stations. It does have a very Liberty feel to it, sort of reminds me of New York (on Earth). However, just take the middle part. Remove the solar panels and the domes and just have the spire. Then modules would be added on to it. Just make the base models (base as in the framework, not a station) and then make the add-ons modules that can be used on different bases, rather than having them part of the station model.

Agreed here. Zoners don't waste resources. They'd have inexpensive, simplistic designs that accomplish what needs to be done. I'd say take normal Freeports and build a station off of that design, rather than making a total replacement.

Explain Freeport 7, 9, and 10 for me please. All of which are vanilla stations mind you.
