Actually, I'd really LOVE to see this implemented on Caps, along with a possible /selfdestruct command. This would mean that I could yell "Ramming speed!" and actually kill something in a blaze of glory, instead of yelling "Ramming speed" and bouncing until I die looking like a retard.
Improve ship masses so it's going to be the same as hitting a station.
But as some may know you'll go up and down while you are in "go to' mode.
Anyway I have no issues with collisions atm.
Although I get killed a lot by bouncing into an enemy fighter and then it's mine. or bounce into some and get killed by friendly fire. so if insta kill is going to happen no one will kill someone else by guns but everything will be ramming.
And ever seen cap combat?
capitals keep ramming into each other all the time so I'd like to see their shield drop just because they hit someone else and keep hitting it because their models are stuck into each other.
And good luck with NPC combat vs traders/miners.
Incoming! brrmrmmbrmrmrm.... shield down hull at 50% but adleast the enemy fighters insta killed them into me although I kept spinning because of the wreckage and it also killed my shield/hull.
Instant kill by ramming is not a good idea, but this suggestion can be fine tuned for it to work. This is because sometimes ramming happens by accident.
Increasing the damage dealt by ramming across the board will be a good start to discourage deliberate ramming. But then again we'd have to vary it according to ship classes, which will be quite difficult due to the fact of it being universal.
' Wrote:The problem with that is that we'll have the "Kool Aid Man" in a Juggernaught screaming "OH YEAH!" as he E-kills through a scuffle of fighters and bombers watching the blue messages compile. That's why this kind of thing was turned down. Really more room for abuse than actual rule-breaking going on.
And Rudo was the one who thought of that one.

Quote:That would mean Capital Ships would now deliberately ram fighters to kill them.
If you get rammed by a Battleship, you deserve it. If you can't dodge something that turns 90 degrees in 4 seconds, and has a top speed of 90, you deserve to die.
Quote:Don't try to fix what isn't broken. If someone is deliberately ramming you, we have methods for dealing with that.
Do you know how hard it is to catch someone ramming you? Not all of us have a video recorder setup and ready to film everything we do.
Quote:a couple of whiney capital ship pilots complaining about being killed again.
Okay. I dare you to get in any Battleship, and let me collect a group of four, as a mix of fighters and bombers, and "accidentally" ram you repeatedly. See if you don't get mad or start whining.
And those talking about ramming being unfair if it's an accident: Maybe you should retake those piloting courses! The only time I ever ram something bigger than me, is when a Gunboat is out for my blood and is jousting. And that's even rare.
Ramming something and taking damage for it is realistic, and a consequence for not being careful. Imagine driving your car into the side of a tank at 200 miles an hour- same concept here.
YES: This would stop the lolrammers
NO: When in crusie I slam into caps for no damn reason. Many accidents would result in me sitting in another system, a boring one, for 4 hours.

Here, I got two bucks. That should cover me :D

Because you quoted too much. There's a limit on quotes.

Unless everyone has zero lag, larger ships will always move wildly when hit by smaller ones, no matter what values you tinker with. Ships taking damage according to more values than just speed would be nice though. You usually cant get away with smashing into stuff without doing a fair bit of damage in real life, but this is a game afterall.
