In all seriousness though, the only reason we destroyed that base is because it wasn't given any repair commodities. If it had any, we wouldn't have gotten anywhere, and even with the murduck and irras, it would have taken a very long time.
Actually It's because you attacked it at around 2 AM (as seen on a screen) and most people who need to go study\work at the morning were sleeping. Bases can't be watched over 24\7 since this is a game. Sieging bases currently is a very boring process without any involvement of fun. I took a part in destroying of around 3 bases and it is confirmedly boring. I guess the next base I'll see I'll just leave alone because this part of the game gives no fun.
I think bases must get an IFF and be vulnerable to NPC so people will not build their bases out of the right zones. (Like Rog base in front of Manhattan will get pooped by patrols). This restriction sounds good.
But on topic, well, yea. Without having an overwhelming capship swarm it's impossible to blow up even a tiny core 1 base and even so you have to spend many hours simply holding the right mouse button.
' Wrote:Hire mercs to blockade the base. Remember how Joker locked down certain places? Aha. Exactly.
Exactly. 3 bombers and some snubs can effectively lock down a base. One of the bombers keeps SNACcing the base. Other two take out the turrets when they respawn. Bombers can also waste any capital ship showing up. Leaves fighters to be handled by the snubs. You'll be in for a long fight - as the bomber snaccing the base won't do damage but force the shield to be kept up. 4 hours of this depletes most bases of shield fuel. After that, switch to novas and waste that base (call in heavies at that time to blow the snot out of it). Attrition is key. Most bases do not have an easy access to high amounts of fuel.
Key to this is to ensure no supply ships can get through. Set a /1 to "Incoming transport, withdraw from this area or you will be fired upon". This constitutes the demand. Have the fighters CD that transport. If it engages thruster, it has refused and the bombers can waste it. Few nova torps ought to do it.
A repair ship just in case is also not a bad idea - with a fresh supply of novas and hellfire rockets.
This tactic is effective against bases that are remote and not checked often. Bases on heavily traveled areas where an attack is noticed quickly, will likely muster defenses fast - once that happens, your attack is generally defeated.

AE, I'd like to point out: Puerta del Inferno was under lockdown for around 13 hours, and shield was still holding, and yes, that shield was bombed all that time. Also mind you, it was BLOODY BORING, as hell may I add. And this was lvl 1 base, higher lvl bases can hold much more fuel in their storage banks.

hehe nice 13 hours? awesome... I spend at least 2hours/day to supply our base.
Higher lvl bases can hold much more fuel? Nope they can't. It is a module that gives you 40k more cargo space, you can have more modules on a higher lvl base indeed but every 40k extra asks for a lot of resources and a lot of looooong boring and expensive trade.
Bases should not be able to be destroyed at all... they should only be given by admins or something like that for factions who deserve it...[so we won't have to deal with to many bases spawwned arround] Unless we end the Capital Ship OORP
At the moment there are a lot of OORP fleets... and strict RP factions could stand no chance against OORP lwlfleets...
[as an example, sairs are starved to death but they can afford to build the biggest capital fleet in sirius... that is sooooo RP why don't they just sell some legates for food? while one of the factions I am in only has 2 Capitals because they are true RPers so we could stand no chance...]
' Wrote:No. Nononono. We do not need super torps doing obnoxious amounts of hull damage just to take out player bases. Especially since most of the base upgrades eat up all of your repair supplies.
If you guys are bent on making bases PVP targets, you should balance bases to be PVP targets. Easy to build, easy to upgrade, easy to destroy with a modest force.
I'm sorry but these bases are an unbelievable amount of work and and if one I was working on got destroyed I would probably quit Disco.
This. It's a lawful base, and ex definitio shouldn't be easy destructible. Easy acces to resources etc.

And with one fell swoop you display your utter lack of knowledge regarding Corsair lore, history and roleplay.

This discussion has nothing to do with differences regarding lawfuls and unlawfuls.
However, all lawfuls have access to the kind of heavy caps needed to seige anybase, whilst there are lots of unlawfuls who don't.
Therefore, how do you seige a base without caps in a similiar time frame with a similiar playerbase.

Erm, how will you siege a base as junkers? Do junkers need base-sieging capabilities now as well? Or House corporations?
Imho, not all factions require those. Each house has an unlawfull entity that is capable of destroying a base - Blood Dragons/Outcasts in Kusari, Corsairs in Bretonia, Corsairs/Hessians in Rheinland, Council&Co in Gallia, Liberty... well, Outcasts as well. (Yeah, Rogues won't like it).

House corporations, Junkers, not so much. They can always appeal to the lawfuls.
But like the op said, Mollys and Rogues and Gaians and the GMG, mostly.
