i guess its kinda positive to have an active challenger for the rank of official faction. - whichever proves to be more suited gets the crown - which appears to be quite fair.
better than to get it - and sit on it for no reasons than cause you came first anyway ( generally speaking - not related to the involved factions here )
when the admins proposed that concept - that was exactly the idea i guess - to add upstarts and newcomers to actually re-ignite established factions ... or loose them if they fail to recover from sleep. - or if they are not inactive - they may just be obsolete - if it turns out that the other one simply does a better job - even if they practicly do the same thing.
it is a valid question to wonder about the long term goals though. they are too vague - the precise goals only describe your short term goals. - i see little that i would instantly identify as "outcast" there - it could be anything from generic pirate faction to even corsairs, junkers or i don t know... LSF.
it just says "become important" - sort of. that might need a bit more work so that the goals are clearly identifyable as outcasts. so they display "what being outcast" means.
ps.: only houses are houses - there are no semi houses. not even hessians, corsairs or outcasts come even remotely close to the power of a house - or a broken down house even - like bretonia.. they are flydirt compared to the power and infrastructure of those.
They combine rp (like the creation of their cap by somehow aquiring materials) or a general "irp attitude" (the italian stereotypes are great) and pvp. What is good about CL} is that they are no pure pvp faction, that they have members that actually are only mediocre and thus even a faction like mine can fight them and not simply lose without doing anything anyway.
The opportunity to rp and pew is something that makes CL} different from other OC factions where rp is often simply the short foreplay to pews.
I also would like to mention the very good, easy and I would say successful communication with Irwin to talk about things we would like to change, things that work and things that can be done in the future.
IMG| is looking forward to more interaction, be it rp or pews and I am writing up the event for tomorrow now.

Hrm. Hard to choose for me whether I would want CL} or 101st as "the" official faction for the 'Casts.
I've had good interactions with CL}, despite only playing an "OC antagonist" character. You still owe me that favour, Alessan.
However, just yesterday I had a very fun roleplay encounter with a 101st pilot.
As for your attitude towards the 101st: I haven't seen it in "first person", but it doesn't sound like a great way to get along. Fact is, you being there to challenge the 101st is healthy for them - it'll either force them to go out and do something, or result in your more active faction (possibly) taking over. You should both view it as a challenge, and more importantly, a form of *friendly* competition. ooRP hatred is never a good thing.
Oh, and this:

The way Outcast and Corsair society "works", multiple "influential families" and organizations fit it perfectly fine. I would consider it a loss if 101st lost their status, just like I would consider it beneficial for you to gain official status (although I do think it's too early to make that call, really). Why not have the best of both worlds?
I was there for the whole interaction last night, it seemed to me like Chenzo simply didn't like the CL but IRP, viewing them as a legitimate threat to the 101st's deteriorating control.
Hasteric is right, it's a challenge and shouldn't really pass the RP barrier, i'm personally not willing to simply dislike the 101st OoRP because they're good players, all of which have a good grasp on RP,know what they're doing and are pleasant to talk to. Several times the subtle threat of war was suggested by both sides but it didn't happen because that would be going too far and war in Alpha...not practical for gameplay at all. I think personal OoRP feelings about it were starting to get involved and pride as well which shouldn't really happen in a server where you're supposed to play the character you've built, not your actual self.
Either way, Loken's post there pretty much sums up the fact that the request is there and nothing more can be done until the decision is made, whether this means we end up as the only official faction, a second official faction like the Corsairs have or a complete failure and we remain unofficial.
I personally enjoyed the encounter in Alpha last night with CL. It was tense almost like a cold war but never passed that point. I tried (and I hope I was 100% IRP) and enjoyed doing it. Personally I think that Outcasts should be able to have more than 1 official faction because as it was stated earlier the Corsairs have more than one official faction and also I think having more than 1 faction will boost activity for the Outcasts as a whole for both 101st and CL. Also I think 101st and CL together could make one hell of a team, both IRP and OORP. I say yes to both 101st and CL being official factions and to a good future for both!

Naturally, 2 official factions would be ideal. However unless admins make a change in the current form it won't be possible.
The Cold War state was indeed fun, each side bringing numbers to look more intimidating.
The Faction Document has received a good deal of updates. Firstly, the goals have been added to, to reflect what we've been doing in game, yes, they are still very outcast centered, but that's how we roll. :-D. Secondly, the roster's been updated to reflect some new members joining in. And lastly, we've put up a recruitment thread so it's easier for those of wanting to get involved to do so. I'll be adding something about the event series we're starting with the IMG pretty soon too. Thanks for the feedback everyone!
