Since Juan_Arquero is away, we need proofreaders for the mod texts that will be in the next mod version (English). Also, we are looking for players who have ideas on improving/changing balance without going too far into extremes. Requirements below.
Proofreaders :: Preferably native speakers. Good knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation. Skills and experience in editing/proofreading any English texts would be great, and even better if you can provide something that you wrote yourself. Also preferable if you have experience with the mod that will allow to find factual errors (occasional mismatches between news texts, for example).
Task: proofreading mod texts (mainly news and object descriptions), correcting mistakes of various kinds while retaining the meaning as close to original (my version) as possible.
Why is it necessary? Because I'm not a native speaker myself, and my writings are far from perfect. How many we need? One, two at maximum.
Balance advisors :: Main requirements: players with long-term experience on Discovery RP server; participating in PvP fights and faction activities; familiar with 4.84 (not only with older mod revisions). Have ideas about improving mod balance that don't involve total revamp of all weaponry or removing shields from all fighters. Open for discussing balance changes with the rest of the community.
First candidate for such role would be Mjolnir, since he already made spreadsheets with weapon changes. However, I feel that more might be needed. Balance suggestions in one forum thread may be useful, but organizing them in a proper way is becoming more and more difficult with each new version.
If you think that you can help with any of those areas, reply in this tread.
I would like to make some new kinds of different Torpedoes.
Just a little more variety.
Some high agile, low damage ones for example.
Look here, too
There are also some examples.
I have some good ideas for it:)
Another examples:
Type A:
- very agile
- higher speed than current torps
- about 3000 damage
- 20m explosion range
(like a missile on the torp slot)
Type B:
- a bit more agile than a Sunslayer
- same speed of current torps
- about 12500 damage
- 35m explosion range (10m more than Sunslayer)
Type C:
- less agile than a Sunslayer
- same speed of current torps
- 30000 damage
- 65m explosion range (40m more than Sunslayer)
- uses some energy, but not very much
Type D:
- no tracking, so against fast moving targets pretty useless
- same speed of current torps
- 68000 shield damage / 2000 hull damage
- 100m explosion range (maybe even more, but maximum should be 150m)
- uses a bit more energy than Nova (must be "charged" and is only usable by bombers)
I'm an AP English nerd and Grammar Nazi with boundless amounts of free time for the next month-and-a-half. Whatever needs proofreading, I'll be happy to look it over.
EDIT: I'm also the resident capwhore, so I can balance Battleships, too.

I am familiar with 4.83 and 4.84 versions, and balance is one of my favorite things to discuss.
I am familiar with all fighters (LF's, HF's and VHF's), bombers and gunboats (except Dragon, Scorpion and Explorer) and their capabilities.
Cruisers and Battleships are out of my knowledge, since I never used those.
So, if you are in need of fighter/bomber/weapon balance freak - I can be of help.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
Willing to proofread....hehehe...where is my dictionary and thesaurus? Seriously, I am edjumacated...see ink is still wet on my degree in.....hmmmm...what was my major?
Anyhoo, I am willing to give it the ol'college try:)
I am a native speaker. Fairly good at grammar, with access to reference books if needed.
I am pretty good at spotting mistakes and, for some reason, get a lot of pleasure from finding errors and correcting them. I have some article-writing and editing experience, having been the editor of a journal for foosball players here in the UK a while ago.
I can help in weapon balanceing if needed.
I played with 4.84 since the release date. Tryed a tonn of fighters (light and SVH), Gb's, And fly'd a lot of gunboats, destroyers, battlecruisers, and i have my dread since 2007 mai. I have a lot of experience in solo/group pvp, and in bigger faction "wars".
So if you need me, i'm here:)
