Implying that:
- Collector, Salvager, CSV and CSF are bad. Especially Collector.
- Junker ID is not one of the most powerful with unrestricted ZoI and wide choice of activities.
- Scrap mining wasn't abused to hell.
- The official Junker faction isn't the most active one on the server.
Really, scrap mining was killed to prevent a ridiculous cash injection into the economy (that was already going on for a few months but was exacerbated by the removal of field drain).
I hope it will be implemented in a balanced way at some point in the near future. For now, it looks like there are more important problems to solve so my Salvager is gathering rust.
It all depends how you use them.
CSV: Awesome in groupfights. Sucks on it's own or in small scale conflicts where it doesn't have support.
CSF: An average freighter. Nothing special, nothing bad about it either.
Salvager: It was ok in .86. Quite good in in the earlier updates of .87 when Solaris were useful. Without useful GB turrets, it's better as just a normal tradeship with some slighty buffed defences. It's a good scrap miner though (or was).
Gitano: Too big. Sucks as a LF.
Bulldog: Needs it's proper powercore. Awesome strafes. Would be awesome if it was VHF class. It's an average HF.
Collector: Some people say it's good. In my opinion, it's not that great. To unlock it's potential, it needs 2.00s. For now, it's kind of average. Kind of below average in some fights.
Recycler: When using the cannoball/starkiller loadout and fighting retards this ship is good. When your opponent actually knows how to use CDs or dodge then you're screwed. Would be better as a bomber.
The 3 major scrap systems I can think of are Texas, New London, and the one in Gallia (can't remember the system). I guess there is one in Munich now as well??

CSV - It's the perfect trollship, except when you fight a bit more experienced pvper who can dodge missiles properly then it's good in 1v1 fights as well. And in group fight this thing is a menace.
CSF - I agree with you on that one
Gitano - Could indeed use a small re-scale
Bulldog - the 900 regen is an oversight, a bug if you wish to call it. Simply some of the HFs were left with the old cores - like Agama or Carcal. Otherwise Bull Dog is fine, I have no problem with flying it. And with the insane efficiency of cl7 guns, even with 900 core it's all ok.
Collector - it's not "OMG GREATEST SHIP IN THE WORLD", but it's not a bad one either. Not even close to.
Recycler - Your prespective is "if doesn't use missiles, it's bad"? Seriously, what? Recycler is damn good. Especially in 1v1. It can use a double MR for god's sake. Sure, in group fights it might do tad worse but don't you have the CSV for those?
All in all, I see here whining. Seriously, these ships aren't that bad. I won't get out of my way and say they are awesome, but implying they are bad is lying to someone - either the community or to yourself.
Also, Salvager is bloody great. With the Solaris nerf all that happened is that Salvager can't be used offensively against snubs, but it still has a very fearsome defense.
Not to mention that there is nothing bad about Basic guns, but I won't get in that.
Junkers have an ID that let them trade with all the lawfuls and the unlawfuls in Sirius, barring the Kusari lawfuls and the FA.
So, basically, you are all crying because you can't solo-mine in a big ship that has GB weapons in a way that is comparable with other mining, when you can dock on 90% of the bases in the mod.

I derped. I forgot the Recycler could mount MRs xD.

Right.
More or less the thing that has been in the Junkers lore for ages isn't very attractive right now, and to do it is more of a chore than anything else (with a small profit margin). ALG have no reason to scrap mine now either.
Given the weight of the Salvager and the recent nerf on solaris, along with scrap mining being gang banged... there is pretty much no use to it.
A gunboat can take it down pretty easily, while when the solaris was still the same old, as it was, GB vs Salvager was a close fight to call, depending on the skill set of pilots. Basic GB turrets on the salvy is pretty pointless, its length and weight makes it difficult to use the GB turrets that dont have a good range as well as good refire.
Scrap mining, is useless now, since there are better trade options than scrap mining. Which is the thing that Salvy was used by the Junkers primarily for, so salvy is nothing but a piece of scrap itself, in the current scenario.
