Sure you may not win many fights in it, but it's the 'best' gunboat for a freelancer as far as RP and immersion are concerned. It has the most believable scale for a single or small crew combat ship, most of the other open gunboats look much larger - so they're fine if you're going to RP out an entire crew to keep them flying, but for a lone character or 2-3 man crew the civilian gunboat fits the best hands down.

Now, back to your pewpew pvpwhoring discussion.
Same could be said for the BW gunboat, looks like engine and equipment eat up more space than anything.
The problem is the two rows of 10+ windows running along the front, makes it look like you've got two huge forward observation decks instead of a bridge.
The condor has a small protruding section with 3 small windows, making it look more like an oversized fighter cockpit.

For killing just Gunboats? Use the Condor. It's got better armour, which is what you need when killing gunboats. And yeah, use solaris for killing other gunboats.
Like I said earlier, if you can actually aim basics, you can take advantage of those. But generally I'd encourage the use of solaris.
