Alright. Im running vista... i actually quite like it.. i have all of the blacklisted Antiviruses uninstalled. Freelancer play's great.. no problems whatsoever.
Now.. the question is...
What is a good whitelist FREE antivirus that i can get? I really dont like having my computer vunurable to viruses...:(
Anyway, I would AVG or ESET NOD 32. I use the latter, but since it causes my laptop to crash (the computer I don't use for FL) I'll probably switch back to AVG. Don't forget to get something like Ad-Aware and Spybot S/D.
What Virus said. If you want to go free you have to have a cocktail of programs to be properly covered. A bit more scan time, but it doesn't really matter if you leave your comp on overnight. I'd also suggest getting a firewall like Comodo if you haven't already. Standard Windows ones are flimsy at best...
Also, Clamwin doesn't seem too bad - using it as a secondary scanner atm. Haven't had any gripes with it so far like I've had with AVG. (like viruses not being deleted and stuff) Not sure about it's Vista compatability though... (only have it on my laptop - my desktop's the one with vista)
i'm gonna give me kudos to AVG free virus ware. it gets the job done and it does it good. Although, i think i heard somewhere that they were gonna stop the updates on the freeware this spring or summer.
Seeing I have used it since version 2. something.. I also would toss in a prop for AVG which you can get HERE
Also Highly recommenced using Advanced SystemCare Free 3.1.1 it's an awesome utility that will help you keep the crap from building up in your PC , you can get it HERE
AVG 8 is good, but i find that spyware terminator (free) has a better antivirus, and when i had a trojan, avg was blind to it, but spyware's antivirus fixed the problem, and in safe mode too.
