Due to a pretty dramatic decrease in activity over the past few months, Gateway Interstellar is withdrawing itself from official faction status on the Discovery Server. This action was prompted by an admin review, but was some time in coming. Soon, our faction status will be removed, and our message dump and recruitment thread will be relocated. We will continue as an unofficial faction, however, just as we were before official approval last May.
As a faction, unofficial and official, Gateway has been in operation since March 2008. We were at one point able to boast 21 players, and we a number of great convoys through Sirius. We prided ourselves on hospitality to new players as well as good trader RP. We hope those we encountered - whether fellow traders, house authorities, or pirates - considered our interaction a positive experience and a contribution to Disco gameplay.
We also proved how fun and "profitable" faction trading can be. Our players have made hundreds of millions of credits (some well over a billion) following a specific route system designed by BaconSoda. Our convoys were great fun, too, and we had a lot of laughs.
This sounds like a eulogy, but it's not. We'll still continue, and you'll still see the Trafalgar, Caernarvon, and GlenCoe, among others, running routes here and there. When the time is right, and we have adequate numbers, we may pursue official status again. Until then, thanks for your support, and we'll see you in space!
A sad day indeed for Sirius to see an excellent group of RPers loose official status.
Had I not already committed myself to Synth Foods (and we are struggling to avoid loosing officialdom also) I would have gladly thrown my support in with the Gateway team.
Heres to the future revival of Gateway Interstellar!
I too hope to see an official revival of Gateway. There's a lot of RP potential to be had in any of Bretonia's factions, and the Gateway/Bowex rivarlry makes for some good times on both sides.
