' Wrote:Succinctly put: As Congress leader, I am all for reducing our caps and replacing them with more realistic, more viable options. It's unlikely we'll see them removed entirely, but less capspam and more roleplay is what I am aiming for here. But I've left the options in the hands of each individual member of the Congress, as the Congress itself was founded as a gathering of individuals rather than a collective force.
EDIT: To emphasize -- there are certain Congress characters whose entire roleplay is based around their use of capitals. Again, they will not be forced to conform.
As one who has both .:j:. Junkers and non-.:j:. Junkers I'll throw my 2 cents in.
My indie Junker (Copernicus) flies the "Junker Cruiser" ... I've been lobbying for the name change for a long time. I'm hoping it is corrected in 4.85. The role play for Copernicus being a cap came about because of all the hostilities that were coming to Junker bases. Specifically all the BHG BC's hovering about Yanagi. Granted the junked version of the Hessian Cruiser won't stand a chance against one ... it did provide a role play deterrent. I originally intended Copernicus to be a member of .:j:. but Tinkerbell informed me of limits being placed on them. Copernicus actually wore the .:j:. tag for about a day and was the first cap in .:j:. (even if for only a day).
Anyway ... I do see a role play reason for Junker caps ... but only if they are of the junked version of other factions. The "Junker Cruiser" is a nerfed version of the Red Hessian Cruiser. Junkers are recyclers as well as scavengers. We take remains of vessels found among wreckage and refurbish them. While they are not meant for combat (offensively) they are good for defensive vessels for the protection of Junker bases. They are also good for long range heavy halls. With greater distances between bases and systems ... unless you wear a diaper, have a huge oxygen tank strapped to your ship and eat paste ... you're not gonna have a very comfortable flight from Yanagi to Bornholm. Or for that matter ... the trip from Yanagi to whatever Junker base is in Gallia.
As for my .:j:. characters ... I've got one in a CSV and another in a Border World Transport (thank you GMG). Speaking of GMG ... with them increasing the BHG presence in Sig 13 we might need more caps for protecting and enforcing the no-fire zone around Yanagi.
