I've played Freelancer off and on since it came out, but honestly, I didn't expect the community to be this active after almost 6 years. I came back and went looking at what people had done with the game. Of all the mods, Discovery is. amazing. So... here I am... Hey!
A good role-playing game is a game with good role-players.
I hope you'll enjoy your stay in that small paradise we have over here - and, as some sort of Disco-Rookie, you might find this post here coming in handy.:)
Enjoy outer space, the nebulas, the toasters and the hotdogs. Be careful about the latter though, some people won't like you eating them;)
Feel free to shoot out any questions you may have, the rules are your friend and don't ever listen to anything anyone with a cat somewhere in their avatar or sig has to tell you about maintaining a healthy relationship.
Welcome to Discovery!
Read and get familiar with the server rules.
Be active on these forums and get to know how to use them.
A Tradeship is almost a necessity to maintain your other ships.
If like to be in groups join a faction they'll teach, if you prefer solo do a bit of research on your chosen role.
But most importantly have fun!

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
