I'v recently reinstalled windows xp (i'v kept the files in folder "freelancer" in "my documents") and freelancer on my computer. After that, when i log into server, i see that all my chcaracters are gone. I'v done some reserch on forum about this, but i want to be sure in this matter. So, i am correctly assuming that there is no way to get my characters back ?
How do you mean gone? Did it ask you create a new account. If not then try click myflaccountid in the exe folder. You may have to create another user account on your computer. Then access freelancer through it and write the account code when you try to connect to disco.
After all this use modmanager to save the account somewhere on your computer. Then you should be able to swap to it. Hope it works out for you.
When i connect to server, and log into my account the list of characters is empty. After reinstalation, when i tried to play multiplayer i was asked to create new acount, furthermore, i dont remember id number of account in previovus instalation (what is my main mistake as it seams).
The moral of this story and the many other similar stories is that you simply must backup your account.
While you can contact the admins on the issue, in the future, try placing your account ID somewhere external (http://docs.google.com for example) or really, anywhere. There is also a backup service available which a quick search could find.
Whoops, someone forgot to back up their accounts. Your account ID is unique to your computers' registry or something like that, so every time you reinstall windows (or make a new log in account for your PC) Freelancer generates a new account for it.
I don't think the Admins are able to restore your account information to you, I'm afraid, you'll probably just have to start again from scratch. I hope you didn't loose too much...
But for in the future download "Freelancer Account Manager" and use it to create a backup of your accounts. Keep them somewhere safe and perhaps somewhere where you can recover them should your computer unexpectedly die.
