I have a suggestion for the Discovery mod, but before I make it, I'd like to know how feasible it would be to have dockable stations that move, or similarly, ships that you can dock with.

'Cap : Sure.'

Unless it's somehow made that the player ship doesnt count as an actual base as in, respawn on the player ship but respawn on a planet or station, I doubt itt'l work. Maybe not even with the above.
I dont think you have your facts straight Look at what they did in FlaK mod.. if the "captain" logs out you can undock form the last station he was docked at. if he dies its the same(or you die with him).

Instead of dockable player ships is there any way to make static, but non-stationary dockables? Like a station that orbits a planet. Or a planet + docking ring that orbits a star? Would be seriously awesome to jump into a system and see a planet slowly inching its way around a star. Or NPC dockable Battleships that patrol a specific predefined path. Though if that were possible it'd really screw with things like mission zones, npc patrol zones, etc, etc. But if you can do it with a planet maybe you could do it with various "zones" too. :P

Anyway, I talked with Cannon about this and the way to do it would be an Flhook plugin so that when you "dock" with a player, you're sent to a station about 300k above the plane, and when you "undock" you magically re-appear outside the ship again. If the ship dies while you're docked in it, you undock at the last base you were on.
It is possible, just a lot of work. Cannon would need to write the plugin and someone (I'm willing to do it, just need a few spare hours at some point) would need to add a base to every system.
