Ok, so for the past 6 months or so, i have been running disco on a laptop (a very old, but determined one), and the time has come where i have had enough of 10 FPS in combat even when all the graphics are turned right down. So the issue is, i have a (shared) desktop, which i desperately want to be able to run disco on.
However....
It is stuck with Norton internet security (evil, tho the ones whom i share it with dont want rid of it), so i am wondering, is there ANY way in which i can run disco MP on it with norton?
Or must i be <strike>forced</strike> doomed to make people eat antimatter at extrememly slow speeds?
'tis run on the most horrific intrument of torture known to man (windows vista).
If anyone can give me a solid and secure solution to this (i dont want to muck around with it), i will give you ten thousand sacrafices to gods of your choosing!
1) Get a copy of XP off ebay for ~$70USD, install on laptop, make it seem fast again.
2) Uninstall that bloated thing Nortan calls a program and install the free version of AVG. Norton doesn't play well with multiplayer games. It's the retarded redhead adopted stepchild of the Antivirus family. Btw, McAfee is the drunk uncle nobody wants to have over.
That depends. Does the computer with Norton have XP on it? If so, go ahead. I used to play Freelancer with Norton on my XP computer. If it has Vista, forget it. I've heard it doesn't work. If it has 7, it's fine as long as you run Freelancer as an administrator.
Plus, Norton isn't that bad anymore. It was only bloated during the 2004-2007 versions. I've used the 2008 and 2009 versions and they were fine. The only reason I got rid of them was because I wanted to beta test Microsoft Security Essentials. However, if you have an old, slow computer, then any version of Norton will be slow.
