i was thinking if i should start rping in my first post but decided not to so. I came to the server few days ago, never played online but i played offline some years ago, i have a few questions for everyone so try to post something useful instead of just welcome:P
1. how much money per h should someone earn if he has a cargo hold of 3600 units, just wondering how am I doing
2. Is there any point in joining a trade oriented fraction (do ppl role play much in these or they are just for making money?)
3. How much money should be enough so i can start a fighter/bomber character regardless if it is lawful or unlawful?
4. is there a way to run freelancer in a window passively so that the graphics still move (i use xp and when i type in ff FL window freezes, the game is still moving but graphics is frozen)
Continue reading if you want to know more about me.
Reasons why i came to play discovery...
1. I want to play a game that is not about being the best and spending the most time playing, i want it to be fun, not some generic grinding game, so i think rping freelancer should be my solution.
2. I liked freelancer and i still do.
3. since it is a rp environment i presume it's not hard to get money and the game doesn't evolve around money and stuff you can buy with money.
4. I like to try new things
5. can't really think of more right now but i ll edit my post when i do:)
Concerns
1. I am not particularly fond of talking over Skye or team speak, since i live in a single room apartment with my brother so my concern is that i will not be accepted and treated equally especially if many ppl use those applications.
2. I don't intend to play the game everyday, sometimes i ll play for a few days like 5-7 h a day and sometimes i wont play for 3-5 days maybe even more so i hope i will be accepted to a fraction:)
Goals
1. goal is to become a part of a fraction, type of fraction is less important then ppl in it, i am looking for mature, sociable people who want to have fun in game, not wanting to be the best - making competitive play more important then fun.
For now i don't even know if i want to be lawful or unlawful, maybe i am more on the unlawful side, but as i said good company is more important than this, at least for now.
Conclusion
1. I hope this was not boring to read, and that you don't mind my typing style
2. I hope to see you in space.
3. I hope to find answers to my questions and more questions to ask:)
Welcome to Disco. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me if you like.

Depends on which route your taking. On average you should get 5 Mil per run, roughly 10 to 15 per route.
2. Is there any point in joining a trade oriented fraction (do ppl role play much in these or they are just for making money?)
Regarding your question, they are there for roleplay and not just for making money. But each faction has its own unique RP. You should read the Discovery Official Faction Index (which can be found at the Discovery Factions forums) for what trading factions there are because in the end, each one is different and unique.
3. How much money should be enough so i can start a fighter/bomber character regardless if it is lawful or unlawful?
25 Million is recommended for a Very heavy Fighter. 35 Million is recommended for a bomber.
4. is there a way to run freelancer in a window passively so that the graphics still move (i use xp and when i type in ff FL window freezes, the game is still moving but graphics is frozen)
Dunno :(

[color=#6600CC] (almost) everyone in Disco is treated equally. Sure, there is the occasional drama here and there, but they usually get resolved in moments. We won't discriminate you for not using skype, that's not how we roll.

I make about 25 mil per hour in my 5k cargo, so that works out to about 18mil per hour with 3600 cargo. Of course it depends on your route and whatnot, but I would say those numbers are at least half decent.

Joining a trade faction is good for RP and there are plenty. It also helps to find good trade routes and to meet people. You're going to be making money regularly so why not have good people to talk to while doing it?

I'd say ~30 mil to get a fighter/bomber fully equipped to compete.

exactly the answer i was looking for, thank you

To play Freelancer in a windowed mode, add -w to the end of the 'target' in Freelancer.exe properties. This allows you to play without going fullscreen. If you want to do this make sure you have a large monitor and relative high resolution.

Yup, me neither I'm 12 years old, and I despise talking over the internet. I think it's normal.

IME, most just use skype for the chatroom function, so don't be afraid to use it
