IF you can see the different servers on the server list, then the firewall is not a problem.. (if you can see the server list filled, then the program is accessing internet normally)
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )

The problem is that it won't show the server list. It just says "connecting to the global server"
If you need something mod-specific, it may be related to the fact that Discovery Freelancer version number differs from normal, so firewalls sometimes get confused about it. To solve this, just find a way to delete 1.0 freelancer.exe from firewall permission list, so that next time you'll launch Freelancer with Discovery mod it will have v4.77 instead of v1.0, so that firewall remembers 4.77. You may need to repeat it when Discovery will be updated.
Otherwise, if it's something different, it's not related to Discovery mod... just check network and firewall settings.

Well, I can say that sometimes it's laggy, but I'm using broadband. Anyways, as for mod-specific, it does that with normal freelancer as well as the mod.
