i believe there is one thing missing friend there rules is conflicting with the id stating you can escort said vessel and if you fire on the vessel being escorted its clearly stated that it can be engaged by the said escorter and this rule "6.9 The individual ID cards may have restrictions and/or allowance that are not covered by these rules. In the event of conflict, the ID's override the rules. nyam.gif " the id is in conflict and thus overrides the rules

I was actually in a fight at Manhattan yesterday in my Pirate Transport, pounding a Siege Cruiser with half-a-dozen Kraken turrets. It goes without saying that the cruiser captain regarded me as a serious enough threat to explicitly target me every time I made a pass on it (or it just picked on me, as people tend to do, because I was the slowest enemy there). Eventually I went gung-ho and we both concentrated fire on each other at point blank range. The cruiser duly went boom as it was taking additional fire and was out of regens. The cruiser attacked me long before I personally did 125k of shield damage (and believe me my transport is capable of it as it can deal 10k of shield damage per second), but it was quite clear that I was intent on taking that cruiser out as I was ignoring the smaller craft. I see no problem with this cruiser attacking me in this circumstance.
In fact, this could open up a slight problem. Assume there's 3 Pirate Transports and a cruiser...if those transports can take that cruiser shield down by half without taking return fire, that cruiser is dead. If the cruiser can return fire immediately, it has a good chance of surviving. Well, a good cruiser captain shouldn't lose really, but 3 good transport pilots are also a match for a cruiser.
If a transport flew around me, while I was in cruiser and poked me with guns once... two times... three times... Always going to 40% of my shields taken down, I'ld file a report against him for 0.0 and lack of roleplay.
As for other things, Cruiser escorts are lame anyway. It's a clear act of lame.
Mining ship has tons of armor. Couple it with cap 7 or 8 armor and it's unstoppable!
Couple it with a repair ship and you can do wonders.
Now, ignore all my advice and actually gang up. I didn't see anyone capable of taking down 3 mining ships at once.
no guys, not even 3 bombers.
Anyone intending to examine theories on supposed loopholes will find the rule 22 contingency comes with a
particularly nasty backlash ... Please feel free to test it at any time though. That goes for both capital ships,
and transports of course.

I really think this whole transport vs capships thing has only become an issue since "pirate transports" really starting pirating regularily.
Blowing up a smuggler with your cruiser is one thing but blowing up a pirate transport that's attacking one of your ships is another thing altogether.
Needless to say I think an exception to the rule needs to be added to the above as more and more pirates are using transports to take advantage of a "real life ridiculous" rule that I belive doesn't apply like it used to or serve it's purpose like it should.
