So, to add a little spice to my life, I'm looking to buying a Bottlenose gunship or something and becoming a BH. I haven't been a while so I'm probably not up to date on what's happening. I know BH sometimes carry a "lolwutter" reputation. So I have a few questions. (I looked around for threads to find info, but didn't find much.:( So if you have a link or something, even better, I'll stop wasting your time.)
Is there such thing as an independent BH, or is every person a member of the BHG, or something else? If there is such thing as an indie BH, do they have disadvantages in places?
Is there a lot of RP involved in being a BH? (I kinda hope there is, and I want to do it right.) Could I create RP moments with a gunship?
Any advice, like systems to avoid or to hang around?
Should I ditch this idea completely?
Just enlighten me a bit. Or give me some helpful links, as I'm too lame to find any on my own it seems.
You may probably roleplay an independent Bounty Hunter with the Bounty Hunters guild ID. Though since the infocard states guild, and the name of the ID just says 'Bounty Hunter'... Certain people might cause problems, even though they would be wrong to do so.
Provided that you walk into a situation right, you could of course find roleplay as a Bounty Hunter Bottlenose. I hate to sound terribly cliche and tell you that "If the other side is willing to roleplay..." as that seems like common sense, but its true. You could try frequent Rheinland as alot of the pirates there are well versed in roleplay and play like actual pirates/terrorists, not cop-killers. If you want a more hands on Bounty Hunter approach, you could hang around Omega-15 and talk to the local Hunters there. Keep in mind that the 'lolwutter' version of Hunters are also present near Rostock, but there are alot more professional hunters that also frequent there.
Like Agmen stated, his faction uses the tag BHG| so try to avoid confusion. Otherwise most other tags should suit you.
You 'could' also try a Merc ID with a Bounty Hunter IFF...
And I don't think theres a double bribe but I'm more blood and guts and did missions for my ID... So theres still a fair bit of chance that I'm wrong.

You can enter Omega 56 if you have the Bounty Hunter ID mounted and a Bounty Hunter tag. There is a double bribe on Sheffield if you are patient. Missions from there are pretty easy too. From Rostock, not so easy.
You may also want to give your character's background alot of thought.
Depending on who he was or what he did, you can change where you work mainly, and how things usually go over...although it does usually end with any unlawful after you...
My point is that some pilots are in the Guild because they are thrill seekers, others are guns for hire, some are ex-criminals that are hunting down their old teammates.
Mostly the BHG have a good time operating out of any house space that is not Kusari. Just avoid the house wars and you will be fine. Edge worlds and Nomad worlds are a great place to go as well, you get to poke the Order, annoy the Corsairs, and make the Keepers say interesting things.
Just keep the bounty system in mind...personally when I played as a hunter I had a hard time keeping track of contacts and targets and payment amounts...if anyone has a good way of doing that I would sure like to hear about it.
And if you have anything in your name suggesting that you are with the Guild, chances are that the unlawfuls will be looking for you once you do anything to make yourself known in the system. Then again, having that in your name can be rather fun....but do talk to the official BHG lads sometime, they are nice fellows
Bounty Hunters follow a strict code of engagement. That is, please don't fly by a fight and go "ASSISTING LAWFUL". Remember all your jobs and kills are comprised of contracts and contracts only. The target and client are irrelevent to you. The forum bounty system is confusing and will cost you some time to get used to, but it's also the only legitimate and recognised form of communication between clients and hunters in terms of server rules.
Finally, the personality of your hunter is entirely up to you, since the Bounty Hunters Guild consist of a wide range of people each with different motive and cause.

In a sense, bounty hunters are not that different from mercenaries and freelancers. They're more organised, with distinctive shipline and equipment.
