I'm currently with the raven's claw, mostly because it has 8 guns. The ship needs an upgrade in handling tough. It's a brick right now.
It's a brick because it has 8 guns. You can't have everything.
The Sabre is really cool, prettier than the Titan, although I prefer the Titan because it is able to make up for its lack of maneuverability with wing-rams. It's also a Corsair ship instead of an Outcast ship.:)

Ramming is a lame move in my opinion. I hate when people use it, be between capships or fighters, and those who dare to use it go from the top of my good pilot's list to the bottom of my lame pilots list instantaneously.
On 4.84, ramming between fighters will be a suicide, as it should be. And novas will once again be skill-based weapons, not sniper torps.
Where in life can you crash two vehicles at 200 m/s (around 600km/h, 1200km/h combined speed) and get out intact?

Where in life can you fire a missile in space that doesn't keep going on until infinity? Where in life can civilians buy nuclear mines that do relatively limited damage to certain vessels?
The game isn't realistic. Hell, why should ramming be suicide if ships have energy shields? Anyway, the Titan is heavily armoured and has wings that are obviously designed for ramming. Why else have wings? They certainly aren't desgined to fly in atmosphere, considering the shape and the fact that loads of ships can fly in atmosphere without wings at all.
The Titan encourages unorthodox tactics, which is why I like it.
And sniper torping requires a lot of skill. I know that I can't do it reliably at any rate. Most bombers that I fight against don't know what the hell they're doing.

A good bomber pilot ram's consistently to ensure a high hit rate with his or her nova's. I don't know why you find it so lame, to be honest. In fact, if you find it lame, then you should try to find a counter to it. There is one, and its easy enough to do in any fighter except maybe a Titan or Nepthys. Don't counter it by changing the mod please; now that in my opinion, is lame.
And I hope the bomber in 4.84 beta 1 isn't staying the way it is, otherwise being a fighter or bomber pilot will be utterly pointless.
To add to that, if ramming is suicide, then I know exactly what to do when I ram someone. Again, easy enough to counter if you know what you're doing.
I hope you guys are talking about ramming fighters...
Quote:6.5 Intentional ramming of capital ships (gunboat-class or larger) by fighters and other capital ships is not allowed both in PvP and in any other situations.
Err, pay attention Dopamino. References to Titan's, Nepthys' and bombers. No mention of any capital ships. Besides, if I did that to capital ships, then my head would be cut off.

True.
I can counter Nova-ramming in both my Titan and my Templar and I don't even consider myself that well practised in fighting bombers.
I think it's lame that people want to change the mod because they can't/won't change themselves. I used to have trouble against bombers and thought they needed nerfed but then I realised that it was my own bloody fault that I was losing, so I learned what to do when I fight them.
In fact, any Outcast-aligned pilots should have an easy job of nailing bombers with their equipment. See: Infernos.
Being Nova rammed is almost impossible if you know the technique, if people tried a bomber and it'd be very easy to find the weakness then counter it in a fighter. Really the only way to get nova rammed is to either lose focus, or being impatient. And I didn't know how to fight a bomber till I flew one, it's really only a good ship if your fighting a cruiser or a battleship anything else should be able to kill it with the proper patience. Also if you read you'll find out what Dab does which is quite affect I admit.
I know how to counter it. The problem is that ramming is annoying, because its an exploit of the fact that ships don't take the damage they should when they collide. Also, it defeats the purpose of the last nova modification, that was a nerf in order to avoid them from being used in fighter / bomber vs fighter / bomber combat. That on my book, is called exploit.
The Titan wings are not for ramming, but for holding gun mounts, avionics and fuel. How can a wing be for ramming? It makes no sense. "Ram heads" are usually placed on the bow, not the wings, as the kinetic energy is better transferred by the ship central axis. Placing it on the wings would cause a lot of undesirable effects, like spinning off course and structural damage.
Being nova rammed is hard to avoid if the enemy has a Taiidan, as that ship is as maneuverable as a VHF, but with 2x the hull and 3x the offensive power. It reminds me of the first Rheinland bomber version, that was a VHF with two torps, a lot of hull, and a huge power plant.

titans are built in the future.
your ramming designs come from thousands of years ago.
today, ships don't ram.
and, the point of a titan ram is to spin you back around.
so, you hit them, spin them off course, and it spins you 180 degrees.
I don't find it that far fetched that the corsairs, who claim to be the best shipbuilders in Sirius, actually design their wings to turn the ships around if hit...just simple physics.
notice how there are no kinetic weapons for ships in discovery?
you know how I rationalize that?
ships are build from ridiculously strong futuristic composites, and need ridiculously powerful energy weapons to break them....notice how little damage a nuclear blast does?
