I wish to purchase a Liberty Assault Battlecruiser but I have some Q's about RP issues. When I name the character, I use LNS-xxxxxxxx and then register on the Liberty capital ships registry. Do I need to be a part of the official faction on forums, or can I be independent but still RP as a Navy Captain etc. Thanks in advance.
You only need to register on the cap registry to use the LNS-tag. After that, you may do as you please within the confines of the general directives of the LN faction and the server rules.
As long as you have the right ID And Reputation (Navy Guard/LSF Guard) to purchase the Ship, You're free to buy and use it within the limitation of Server Rules, So you won't need to be part of the Official faction to fly it. But the fact that you're RPing a Battlecruiser Commander doesn't mean you can order any smaller vessels around. (The issue that we often see, where a player in Battleship tries to order the Official [LN] Vice Admiral around only because he's in a Fighter...)
Also, LNS Ships are usually named after American Cities and Rivers, and the Cap ship Registry is completely Optional and although promotes RP is not essential to fly a Cap ship.
Other than that... I hope you're getting this ship for sole purpose of RP, because if you're doing it to get some pew pew, I'm gonna rage cause Liberty already has far too many Caps, and I the last thing I need is Yet Another LABC chainfiring at my lone Bomber. >_> So please stay out of the "Already covered" fights and go bug Rheinland or somethin!

Feel free to order any indies around though.
If they don't follow your orders they're ooRP.
Trufax.
Thanks for the fast and helpful replies. I will be sure to not Overkill aswell - e.g. 2 LN bombers vs 1 Rogue Gb (Even though thats probly already outmatched ;P ), Im not gonna step in.:)
Buy ship with thruster- then you wont be only snac practice target.
LABC is so bad ship in the hands of new pilot- I have soloed some in GBs/Bombers.
Before you go for capital ship buy fighter, fly with the official [LN], learn about LN RP and then step in - Lib Gb or Siege Cruiser but not LABC.
Don't listen to Bob- he is troll. I would advise you to seek people with more experience and take orders from them- it will saves you a lot of rage and re-spawn button hits.

(yes, i've seen enough of those lolduels, where house military with overwhelming force on the field willingly loses a pilot in a duel. ffs.)
as in, a [LN] Light fighter can give commands to an Indie Carrier.

RIGHT 2) Official factions have authority over players of the same NPC affiliation, as long as RP justification is provided. This authority applies in forums and in-game, and applies to player faction diplomacy, and strategic and tactical direction. However, exercise of that authority, on the forums and in game, is restricted to official faction members with the rank of the official faction leader and one rank below him/her. The authority may be exercised through the use of in-game in-RP orders, which, if not obeyed, can result in in-game in-RP consequences (arrest, court martial, and even "lethal" force in extreme circumstances). Official Factions cannot, under any cicrumstances, require another player to follow non-canon RP if that player doesn't want to.
