Okay. I'm very interested about your opinions and ideas about landfall in Sirius. There were paratroopers in 20th and 21st century; there were ODST's in falling cans in 26th century... so what stuffs does military uses to drop their soldiers on planets surface? Simple ships? Some kind of super-future parachutes?
Discuss.
P.S.: I'm hoping for no flaming, trolling or etc. Thank you.
Using docking ring when you're under fire by anti-air turrets. Plus, RP'ly, I think these rings are blocked to all hostile ships.Dropping soldiers directly to battlefield have to be fast to make sure that it'll be effective.
You'd need specialized craft to do so. There's lore available that planetary landings without a docking ring are possible - the habitable planet in the Kansas system is such a planet. I think the problem is less a matter of getting to the surface (landing struts/thrusters and even basic parachutes if landing on a planet with an atmosphere) but getting back into space once you get there.
