Not really, no. Logically speaking.
You were in Gamma though, so if he doesn't like you, he can pretty much shoot at you.
Why? Because Sabres are mostly used by factions who are enemise of the Corsairs. You're a freelancer, flying one of those ships in the Corsairs homesystem... imo a good reason to be shot down.
Rule-wise ? Maybe not.
Does that make sense ? You were in his territory flying a ship relatively affiliated with Corsair enemies. I guess it makes sense.

Well it is Corsair home system. They have the right to police it as they will, it is in RP to kill you if they wish, however there are many mercs/freelancers with sabres who work for Corsairs and there is no problem. So it is depending who are you and if your character is known among corsairs, since you could be Outcast spy or everything....

So it depends on like anything else. Where and who is your buddy on Disco.
If you come to Gamma with a non-Corsair ship, and are not a Hog/Gaian/Samura/supply trader, then it is purely up to the Corsairs present whether or not they want to shoot you, as it is perfectly within their rights and RP to do so, no matter how neutral you think you may be.
Basically, Corsairs don't like outsiders in Gamma, so if they want to shoot them up for sport, then they can so long as all the rule conditions are met (RP prior to engagement is the main one >.>).
