OK, I had a discussion with someone about this, and realized that there is RP potential in under-level RP. What I'm talking about is a community of characters that are under level 30, such as LPI patriots, LH daggers, LR bloodhounds, Junker CSVs, Xeno Hawks/Starblazers, and Navy defenders.
If it were individual players merely abusing this to avoid getting shot at by the bigger players... that is abusing a rule, I will concede to the other person in the argument. However, if it is a community of below-level characters, who would be tagged Xeno- or Rogue- or Navy-, and they truly role-played, and acted like the larger people could hurt them.... well, let's just say this is an idea I've been playing with.
Back when the LPI did this (about the first week) it was some of the best fun I had ever had, little knife-fights between our Patriots and Xeno Hawks. Didn't matter who won, just as long as we had fun... and we did. Please, this would be an invaluable part of gameplay that we're turning our back on because people can abuse it... mature players would be required, yes. But I think that it may be worth the risk of potential abuse.
And, just as an example of what I mean by 'abuse', I mean something like a Rogue level 29 Bloodhound sitting outside Manhattan, spouting stuff such as 'lol u cant shoot me lol!!11!'. No. They deserve to be shot.
What are your opinions... and the question is, are you for this? Or are you opposed?
I see no reason why these people can't join the mainstream Disco community. Allowing people to abuse the rules well, invites itself to abuse. Too hard to regulate.
If people want to fly in LPI Patriots, Hacker Daggers, Navy Defenders, Junker CSVs etc., let them. But I think this idea is too easily abused, and think that it would be better to build up this community of said ships without the exploitation of our leveling rules.
No, faction ID's and tags. Like the LPI and LH did, all our ships were IDed and tagged correctly.
After talking with Praetyre, maybe a new rule stating that if you are under-level, but ID'd/tagged, that above-level people can attack you would be effective.

The rules were changed a few weeks ago. I argued like made against it then, and I think that it largely kills the possibility of this idea. I don't believe for a minute that all these independents in capital ships will leave the Daggers, Bloodhounds, and Patriots alone to fight amongst themselves.
Three of us LH in fighters in Cali tonight drew FIVE capital ships. At least in a Scimitar I have a chance to hit regen when they get a lucky hit. In a mark I ship, you are dead before you know what hit you.
Edit: If it CAN work somehow, I already have 3 LH Daggers Tagged and ID'd and ready to go. I've even been thinking about proposing semi-regular "events" that involve Daggers, Bloodhounds, Patriots, Pirahnas, and Defenders exclusively...nothing larger welcome. But frankly, given the immaturity of all these battlecruiser and gunboat drivers (who were traders preferring to die rather than pay a pirate 2 weeks ago, you know) I don't have much hope for it. The biggest thing this would require, is an authoritative clan presence that tells the bigger ships to stand down and back off or else, so that the smaller ships can have their fun.

I had a RP'd under level Xeno, and I loved the little fights with the LPI.
In-fact, the LPI are very inactive now that the under level targets are gone. I am not active on my Xeno, because the LPI arn't around.
Sad really. I had many great RP moments and fun PvP's infront of the new players. Unfortunatly, although I tried so many times in front of the Administrators that we could RP under-level characters, they just didn't budge.
I was marked a PvP whore, Loop-hole abuser, noob, tacky, a rule breaker...The list goes on and on.
As much as I would like the rule changed. I fear things might not be the same.
How about scheduling a battle or two for your sub 30s in this thread then. Controlled environments would
keep those large and unaffiliated ships out of the fray.
There was never really a problem with the official factions being involved in this sort of roleplay, the premise
was rather hi-jacked by a few unscrupulous independents, spoiling it for everyone.
I've got a tagged and IDd BH character that I've been keeping kitted with a Pirahna and Barracuda, solely for the purpose of hunting all those low level tagged and IDd bad guys, and they've all disappeared off the server.
I think Hood's right in saying we should schedule some events. It's a shame that all these great ships never get a run out, just because there are people out there that can't keep their fingers off their VHF's or cruiser's fire button whenever we fly past.
I'm in for anything that gets arranged, and if my BH doesn't fit, I'll start something that does.
