Some of you may know, I 'left' Disco to pursue my ambition of serving my country and 'getting a life' within the British Army.
Since my leg injury for the past few months, and my... huge family pressure I've been under huge and, wrong pressure to be 'safe'.
Therefore I've decided to try an old dream of being a police officer, the RAF pays, a lot for them, does anyone here have RAF or police experience to pass on?
whatever mob you join, (combat/combat support/combat support services), you will have to pass the same combat fitness test, applied by the initial training group.
the raf police are more in danger than the soldiers in afghanistan; 1. they dont have body armour. 2. the talibans in this country dont have access to weapons, so they make bombs instead. bombs are nasty cos you can see an ak74 from miles away.
leg injury? pshhh. i have a split disc in my neck & reduced strength in my left arm, my right shoulder blade is in two pieces, and im twice your age, yet i managed to complete the 1.5mile run in under 10 minutes, and did 80 pressups/situps in the two minute period - this is beyond what the army ask of 18 yr olds going into combat roles.
look up britmilfit on google, sign up to their fitness regime, they'll have advice about your leg, you'll train for the test and do well
tell your family stfu and gtfo; this is your life, not theirs. say to them, "if not me, then who?" i'd rather face fire on the two-way rifle range in helmand, then sit on the underground worrying about that guys rucksack. The taliban want to turn large portions of the world into an islamic caliphate; essentially taking a country and reverting it to the serfdom of the middle ages, but making sure that women do not learn to read, cannot have jobs, and basically stay home, grow food, & make babies.
Yes, there is a lot wrong with our civilisation; drugs, sex trafficking, paedophiles, etc, etc, but teaching girls how to read & having a democracy isn't wrong: its not that we mind that they want to live in that way, its that we mind that they train up young kids, strap bombs to them and tell them its a good idea to take a train or a bus, cos thats gonna convince us to abandon democracy, yeah.
follow your dreams, and you'll be safer in the army than as a copper on an raf base.
