If a lonesome traveller, desperate for somewhere to land, should make a wrong turn through the Edge Worlds, they will find themselves in the Omicron Kappa system, a wild place untouched by civilisation for centuries. If they survive the onslaught of Nomads, they may seek refuge on Gammu. Gammu is home to an advanced race of machines, the only remians of a colony from many years before. Exploring this world, he may find something human- or, as the case may be, more than human. There, they will be offered the right to become a god. When the Angel of Death was defeated, a new world was opened to humanity.
The world of Ascension.
“What is 'Ascension?” asks the traveller.
Ascension is what makes us who we are. We allow our minds to merge with the machines, giving us the whole of Sirius to explore and observe and powerful starships to house our minds as we wander. There is also the Sandbox, our own world that we shape with our minds. It is where we live out our wildest fantasies, where we can be alone or with everyone who has ever lived.
The traveller is skeptical, not believing such things to be possible.
But we connect him into the Sandbox to show him.
The traveller experiences a world of pleasure, more than anything they could experience in the physical world and is given a choice.
Die in a few decades' time, with an ageing body that can barely support itself or ascend and live forever, never ageing or growing ill, a master of the stars.
OORP Stuff:
Ships: AI Drone and AI Cruiser
Tag: Shipname|A
Naming conventions: Come up with something humorous but not too silly. Robot?.What.Robot? is a perfect example, but Qwib-Qwib is just being silly. (And unoriginal- I know where it comes from.)
Leadership:
The Ascended are represented by the Emissary, who is both an in-RP representative/diplomat and considered the leader for the purposes of dealing with the admins. Taking the role of second-in-command is the Apprentice, who is being taught by the Emissary in the arts of diplomacy. They are also the second-in-command for Forumlancer purposes, dealing with Admin stuff in the case of the Emissary's absence. The Emissary will take the callsign E-Shipname[A] and the Apprentice will take A-Shipname|A.
Current Emissary: E-Totally.Not.An.AI|A
Current Apprentice: NONE
Rules:
If the Emissary tells you to do something, listen to them.
Players can use any ship permitted by the AI ID on the Tech Chart, but only take the AI Cruiser into House space with the express permission of both the Emissary and the local authorities. The Apprentice is always assumed to have the permission of the Emissary unless they say otherwise.
There may be punishments for breaking the server rules, depending on the severity of the violation.
This is already stated on the AI ID, but please only fight if there is no other option.
RP guidelines:
Remember that your character is a human that has chosen to have their mind transferred into a new body. They are no longer constrained by the limits of the human brain- they are essentially a god.
Faction-wise, the Ascended are a pretty easy-going bunch. Just don't get on the wrong side of them.
I like the idea of an AI faction, but I'm not sure about having to get outside House's permission to enter their space. Afdter all, if faction members see themselves as gods, wouldn't they just do whatever they want?
