Completely covered in a massive cloud of industrial smog, Vogtland base is the very heart of Red Hessian operations in southern Rheinland, and a major manufacturing facility for ships and weaponry. It was the first permanent base to be established by the movement, established in 680 A.S., well before the miner uprising that crippled Daumann two decades later.
Despite the Popular Revolution beginning in earnest in 672 A.S., the Hessian movement had made use of mobile bases comprised of hijacked and retrofitted transports, before the political fiasco of 700 A.S. forced the Bundschuh back underground, and the miners into another uprising. With the second attempt being far less successful than the first one, the Red Hessian ranks swelled with people poised to take the situation into their own hands, resulting in an upsurge in vigilantism.
First discovered in 675 A.S. during reconnaisance conducted by Daumann miners sympathetic to the Hessian cause, the Vogtland Planetoid as it was named, was hollowed out in small areas to provide stashes for supplies by radical elements that would later form the Red Hessian movement. Over time, the in-mining hollowed out the entire planetoid into a massive starbase, with minor factories, living quarters and a fighter yard. It was from Vogtland that the Hessian movement became a serious threat to Rheinland.
