Completely covered in a massive cloud of industrial smog, Vogtland base is the very heart of Red Hessian operations in Rheinland, and the primary manufacturing facility for most new ships and weaponry. It was the first ever permanent base to be established by the movement. First discovered in 703 A.S. during recon conducted by Hessian raiders hoping to discover new possible attack routes and hiding spots, the enormous asteroid, so conveniently locked in a gravity field inbetween several jump hole anomalies, has since been the major landmark for Hessian ships to rendezvous at before proceeding to assault nearby trade. By 706 A.S. efforts have been made by the former miners to build a fuel, supply and storage station there, thus providing the raiders with a viable fall back point and staging area. It wasn't soon before living quarters and massive docking spaces were carved into the rock itself, and the refuel and resupply area was moved inside the cavernous cave within. Many years later, Vogtland would become nothing short of a small space city, filling up almost the entire asteroid, housing and supporting hundreds of Hessians inbetween their raids and battles.
